5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Had it at a tap takeover. Simply the best beer I ever had. Liquid candy is how I would describe it. Perfection. I love goose island’s bourbon county but Alewerk’s is one notch ahead.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2013 bottle. Pitch black pour with small head. Nose of roasted malts, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste is medium on roast and medium on bourbon. I typically do not enjoy this style but this is an exception. Just the right amount of burn. A tad on the thin side however.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle, poured a brown almost black color, aromas of vanilla, wood, chocolate, bourbon, and light coconut. Flavors are light bourbony fudge with some vanilla thrown in. Boozy was not overshadowing any flavor, a nice mix of flavors, a solid ba porter.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a deep brown with very thin tan head that quickly recedes and spotted lacing. Nose is vanilla, bourbon, oak, milk chocolate. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, heavy cream, with a roasted malt finish that is bitter. This bottle was cellared for a little less than a year, the bourbon has faded a bit since my last taste and time has treated it well. The bourbon was a little too present, if that is possible, when it was younger.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pitch, silky black, with a mere hint of a head. The initial whiff is decidedly whiskey-laden. The beer drinks with a nicely placed medicinal burn of mellow bourbon, well laced within a light-bodied, sweet porter. Nice finesse in this one. (#4804, 10/21/2012)

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, caramel, coconut, vanilla, and bourbon. It pours a dark brown with a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin ring. There is some sporadic webbing for lacing. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate, caramel, and a touch of a butter. The finish has heavy coconut and light vanilla. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to oversized snifter (thanks Bim). Looks good; a cloudy dark amberish-brown with beige lacing. Smells good too; sweet, malty, and boozy with notes of vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a pleasant mouthfeel. Nothing crazy; just a really good base with a really good barrel treatment. Bravo!
