3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lightly charred oak and chestnut aroma, with cocoa also present. Thick viscous black pour with a firm medium dark brown head, great lacing. Mainly charred oak flavor with date and grass notes. A little like battery acid on the palate. Full mouthfeel with good balance. Not really as good as I hoped.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bomber. Opaque pitch black color. Mellow roasted malt aroma. This is a hell of a beer. Big and full bodied, with a sugary sweet finish. The ABV is reminiscent of an Imperial Stout, but the taste is all porter. Well done. Creamy and quite drinkable. A quality beer.

22-oz bottle (327 of 2007) received via trade with Immy. Pours opaque with a small, creamy, dark brown head, mostly lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, chocolate, nutty), average hops (perfume, pine, flowers), average yeast (leather) with notes of wood, alcohol, and prunes. Full bodied, alcoholic and creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Appearance: Pours a near black body with a thin, bubbly, off-white head. Let’s Rapadou this!
Smell: Light, sweetish aroma of dark malts, chocolate, charred sugars, and roast.
Taste: Dark chocolatey maltiness with a good amount of sugary caramel sweetness. Hint of fruit. Very slight roasty, earthy bitterness. Puff of smoke. A little rebound of the earthy roastiness for the finish.
Mouthfeel: A bit above medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Boy, I’ll tell ya. This is a pretty tasty porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an opaque oily black with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet dark caramel malts and some toasty earthy roasted malts. Starts fairly full and dark caramely malty sweet with a nice smoky balance and good dark fruity complexity before a drier bready earthy finish. A nice imperial porter.
