4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Date stamp of 6 2 14. 22 oz bomber into a tulip. Pours a pitch black with a finger of clinging khaki foam. Nose is roast, chocolate, sweet vanilla, faint dark fruits and some caramel. Taste is a nice balance of light roasted coffee, chocolate, sweet vanilla and some earthy toffee. Creamy body but doesn’t linger forever. This is a very good porter.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle of the 2014 edition, weighing in at 8.5% abv. Pours a watery, but translucent deep brown with some foamy, off white head. Nose has a lot of chocolate and plenty of molasses, licorice too, some toast, a hint of booze, some dried fruit too, some cola. Flavor reminds me more of a milk stout that I would have though, some of that lacto sugar, molasses, less chocolate than the nose let on, a little toast, some distinct maraschino cherry. Full bodied, sticky finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I added this beer because the "Rapadou Porter" currently in the database is designated as "Brewmaster’s Reserve", not "Brewer’s Choice", and the ABV of this beer is 8.5%, vice the 9.0% given for the "Reserve". Finally, the label is different.
I had to look up the word "Rapadou", and found it in the Creole Dictionary online -- "Solid rolls of brown sugar and molasses". Which sounds about as rich and delicious as this beer turned out to be. The color is dark dark brown, and the head is short-lived. Aroma is about as rich as a porter can be, and the taste of caramel and molasses is strong; drinking it at room table from a snifter, it feels much more like a bourbon than a beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark beer with some ruby hints when held against the light. Short lived beige head. Thick nose of molasses and dark dried fruit. This is a full flavored porter with lots of dark brown sugar, molasses, raisin and dried fruit flavors with hints of ash and something almost smokey. Tasty beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at post GABF tasting day 1, courtesy of iphonefan. Pours a very dark brown, almost black pour with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma is malty, chocolate and slight alcoholic. Flavour is moderately sweet and malty. Faint touches of caramel and molasses on there. I’m not really getting the specific cane sugar used for this brew, but there are definitely some sugar notes in there. An ok beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Serving: 22 oz. bottle from Total Wine Sterling. It pours a very dark brown with a small tan head. The nose sweet with a little vanilla, roasted malt, and a hint of chocolate. The flavor leans towards the sweet side as well. The roasted malt and chocolate balance each other out. A light dried fruit note emerges as the brew warms. Medium to full body with softer carbonation. A delicious offering from Alewerks.
