3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle poured a dark brown in color with a pretty two finger frothy light brown head. aroma has brown malt, caramel sweetness, light chocolate, dark dried fruit, and some coffee. medium mouth feel with light carbonation. flavor has mellowed malt, earth, chocolate, dark fruit, and molasses. definitely a big beer with plenty of sweetness and has aged out well adding a bourbon wood thing.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (1050 of 2007) received from Captain Cougar, thanks Tom: Extremely dark near opaque hue with an initial creamy tan head which left spotty lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of molasses, toffee, prune, anise, hints of chocolate and coffee along with a dose of resiny hop vapours. The taste does not disappoint where the porter characteristics are there in full force, Lots of molasses and dark fruits work with a hop and espresso bitterness. The alcohol is there but adds to the palate by cleaning up the sweeter malts and sugars. There is some sourness towards the finish which is a tad distracting but goes away quickly enough. The mouth feel is quite lush for the style but it is also quite aggressive around the edges. This is a very well done big porter, Mikey Likey.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 2, 2011 Bottle 1565/ 2007 This is major Porter. The beer poured with a brown forthy head that dissapated and left some lacing down the glass. I purchased this bottle at the Alewerks in Williamsburg. The Brewmatser recommended that I try it. He was right. The flavor was immense. The higher alcohol was not detected until later. It is a full bodied porter with chocolate and caramel flavors. It is a joy to drink. Some sweetness at the finish. When this is stored in bourbon barrels it will be amazing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I can’t remember who I got this from so whoever you are, thanks! This was an unsurprising black color and just as unsurprisingly it lacked a head. Average smell of well, a strong porter. Tastes like alcohol and a little roasty malts. This was nothing I’d seek out but it was easy to drink and got me a good buzz so bravo!

Bottle thanks to Immy. Been in my cellar for sometime, but well worth the wait. Porus dark brown with nice creamy brown head. Heavy chocolate with some espresso on the nose. Flavor is sweet with chocolate, coffee, molassess and a touch of smoke. Really nice rich texture that hides the alcohol.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Dark brown, near black pour with a finger of creamy brown head. Aroma is sweet and chocolate laced with a bit of the roast and coffee shining through. Flavor is rich and chocolatey sweet with some lingering roast and espresso. A bit more sweetness that regular chocolate, maybe thats the cane sugar? Silky, smooth, and delicious. Really quite terrific. Thanks Immy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber thanks to Butters. 1808 / 2007. Pours quite dark black with small tan head. The aroma is dark fruits and rum, with hints of smoke, vanilla, and chocolate. The flavor is ashen roastiness, rum, prune, toffee, and a strong earthy finish. There’s a bit of an oaky sourness, and not really any alcohol noticeable. The aftertaste is long and burnt. Pretty good.

22oz bottle #1691 of 2007, from Swolf3, another big thanks to Steven. Dark black pour with a nice brown head. Sweet aroma of vanilla, toffee, some dark fruits almost bourbony. Sweet flavor as well with previously mentioned smells, also some dark chocolate bitterness. This was very good, I could see this being outstanding in a barrel.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz. Bottle (#1686 of 2007): Aroma of roasted malts, soy sauce, chocolate, slight alcohol, sugar, caramel, toffee, and some smoke. Poured black in color with a small to medium-sized brown head that diminished into a nice, lasting film. Opaque. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of sugar, chocolate, roasting, malts, coffee, cream, smoke, slight alcohol, wood, toffee, caramel, and some soy sauce. Full body. Thick, sticky, coating texture. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, smokey, sugar, caramel, and roasted malt finish is a bit chalky.
