COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Imperial Porter brewed with a Haitian sugar called Rapadou. Rapadou is a traditionally processed cane sugar that lends a great toffee caramel flavor to our 9% ABV Porter. Watch for this one aged in oak barrels in the future. Limited edition of 2007 bottles.

Bottle 0590 of 2007. Poured an opaque black color. The head was one finger high and brown. It reduced over a minute or two to a lasting film. Chocolate and whiffs of cinnamon and anise in the nose. Medium to full bodied and slightly sweet. A bit of roasty bitterness emerged at the end.

Bottle at post GABF tasting day 1, courtesy of iphonefan. Pours a very dark brown, almost black pour with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma is malty, chocolate and slight alcoholic. Flavour is moderately sweet and malty. Faint touches of caramel and molasses on there. I’m not really getting the specific cane sugar used for this brew, but there are definitely some sugar notes in there. An ok beer.

Cleveland tasting

Once again thanks to the magic cellar of miketd. This was a refreshing change of pace from the earlier one dimensional sample. It is roughly on par with the Ironbound Ale though based on my current tastes I think I’d opt for this instead. It might be interesting to see what oak barrels do to enhance some of the base flavors.

Aroma / Appearance - The light wood colored head bobbed above a deep black body. Smoke, ash, chestnuts and iced coffee. Things are a little loose around the edges causing a bit of disarray.

Flavor / Palate - Warm black coffee tickles the tongue followed soon by hop residue and overcooked chocolate pudding. A smokiness finishes things off far too soon for this to have a lasting effect. Despite being a bit thin in mouthfeel I’d still say this is probably slightly above average.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a crema head. Nose is brown sugar, molasses and light espresso. Medium body with a buzz. Taste is tar, burnt sugar and lime set against toffee and mocha. A bit harsh at times but nice touches of sweetness.

Bottle thanks to Radek. Black with brown head, lacey and soapy head. Aroma with significant chocolate. Taste is sweetish, with toasted barley, big but well integrated chocolate, smoke, a little sourness. Overall good porter with above average mouthfeel.

It has to be IBrew2or3 that shared this one. Pours brown with a white head. Nose is sarsaparilla, chocolate, anise, herbs, slight roast, and a hint of coffee. Flavor is similar with a medium body that finishes with lingering licorice and anise. Interesting and herby beer.

Bottle… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!…Pours very dark and sits almost black in my glass with no head. Standouts in the bouquet are chocolate, charcoal and alcohol. Full-bodied and creamy with dancing carbonation. Flavorwise, dark chocolate and modest acidity are the main players. Finishes chocolaty and tangy. Bottle courtesy of TheCheeseMan!

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours near black with a light earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roast joined by a good amount of toffee with slight hints of bitter chocolate and caramel. Flavor begins dark with roasted malts and dark chocolate but has a bit of sweetness from toffee in the finish.
