COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Imperial Porter brewed with a Haitian sugar called Rapadou. Rapadou is a traditionally processed cane sugar that lends a great toffee caramel flavor to our 9% ABV Porter. Watch for this one aged in oak barrels in the future. Limited edition of 2007 bottles.

Bottle from Immy. Oh, the ecstasy!
Pours a perfect black with an ample olive green head. Aroma is chocolate chip cookie malt with hints of dark yeast dough in the background. Flavor is straight-up raisin chocolate with bitter coffee grounds and milk chocolate bits. Nice, chewy mouthfeel. Pretty good brew.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2010 Another one shared by cbkschubert @ Hellbilly’s...this one is a winner Craig!!! Mahogany brew with dark crimson highlights and a creamy eggshell head. Assertive cocoa in the nose and the chocolate is equally aggressive in the flavor. A bit of smoke and molasses add to the complexity of this one although it is a bit sugary. Velvety mouthfeel. Glad I could try it!!!

Courtesy of ksurkin. Pours dark with mahogany edges and mocha head. The aroma is pretty darn rich with molasses, caramel, prunes, dried cherries, chocolate, a mild note of black licorice and a muted array of Noble hops. The taste is smooth with near creamy molasses, burnt malts, caramel, dark roastiness, chocolate and a bit of toffee. Well put together.

In short: A toasted, caramelized, chocolaty and nutty dark ale that is just too easy to drink.
How: Bottle 22oz. Exact age unknown. Bottle sent to me by ksurkin, thank a lot Ken
The look: Near black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is fudge caramel, chocolaty and roasted nuts. Pleasant malt backbone just how I like it, rich and creamy with fudge caramel, cacao powder, notes of chocolate but also a lot of toasted nuts and dry bread crust that dry out the beer. Not much fruity flavors to talk about. Leafy resinous hops work with the toasted bread and toasted nuts to really keep the sweetness in check. This beer is scarily drinkable. I like it. Go a lot to drink again on that knight. I realize now that I really can’t hold my alcohol. That’s why I swallow it.

Really really good. Nice black / deep brown pour with a big aroma of dark chocolate, roasted lats and coffee. A nice dry coffee bean and dark roasted chocolate flavor. A really well blended Porter.

Bottle shared thanks to iphonephan. Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma of big roast, malt, chocolate, caramel, toffee, light soy. Flavour is over moderate sweet and bitter. Full bodied with light carbonation.

I added this beer because the "Rapadou Porter" currently in the database is designated as "Brewmaster’s Reserve", not "Brewer’s Choice", and the ABV of this beer is 8.5%, vice the 9.0% given for the "Reserve". Finally, the label is different. I had to look up the word "Rapadou", and found it in the Creole Dictionary online -- "Solid rolls of brown sugar and molasses". Which sounds about as rich and delicious as this beer turned out to be. The color is dark dark brown, and the head is short-lived. Aroma is about as rich as a porter can be, and the taste of caramel and molasses is strong; drinking it at room table from a snifter, it feels much more like a bourbon than a beer.

bottle thanks to immy....a very appealing almost black pour with a hefty tan head at first that quickly made an exit....aromas of charred and smoky roast and cocoa.....moving onto the flavors. more bittersweet chocolate, roast, and a nice added smokiness to it. medium body and pretty smooth overall. slight bitter roasted finish in the end.....this one was def. a pleasant surprise. thanks tim.

Thanks to Butters for this one! Pitch black, faint brown at edges, nice long lasting head fades to ring, very attractive. Aroma has components of slightly hot alcohol, dark fruits, and chocolate. Flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and a bit of caramel. Roast note as well. Alcohol evident. This is significantly better now that it has warmed up, as it was just totally disjointed at first. Not bad. Could potentially respond well to oak aging, as long as it is done with restraint, vanilla could be a great complimentary component here. Bottle 555.
