COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"This is our Coffeehouse Stout amped up to 8% abv and aged for a couple of months in Virginia Gentleman Reserve Bourbon Barrels. Another unique AleWerks beer which blends the rich, coffee-milk stout flavors with those of vanilla and bourbon."

Very good beer, although I would have preferred it a bit more bourbon forward. Tasted alongside coffee BCS and a KBS, so that may have affected my score.

Had at the BGoA Winter tasting. Pours dark brown. Coffee and chocolate. Smooth and clean. Lots of coffee. Nice beer.

Bottle from trade with Ken. Thanks! Pours black with a half finger creamy mocha head. Aroma of bourbon, earthy coffee, chocolate, oak...a bit heavy on the sharp bourbon smell. Flavor is roast up front, a little sweet lactose, with a straight bourbon finish. Not much coffee to taste. There isn't much else going on here. Velvety smooth with medium carbonation, and medium bodied. Overall I am psyched I got to try this, but these lighter stouts and porters just can't stand up to the bourbon. I can't get into this one. Meh.

Opaque molasses-colored beer with a thin foamy root beer head. Amazingly complex nose of coffee, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, oak, and hazel nuts. The aroma is fantastic! Flavor is not quite as profound, although it is good. It’s got a rich coffee bitterness up front followed by deep vanilla, burgundy wine, wood, and a little smoke. The aroma while sipping greatly enhances the experience. Excellent beer, worth it for the smell alone.

65cl, no mention of ABV, as AleWerks Café Royale, new exclusive American brew Anno 2010, with coffee, thx to Secret Santa!, complex Stout, roasted/sweet and slightly vinous/spicy, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, good head, very good brew, yet expensive!

Keg @ Beer Run. Deep brown with a small tan head. Initially a bit of hot baked apple and cinnamon on the nose. Caramel, sweet German chocolate cake. Rum raisin. A nicely complimentary set of aromas. The taste is initially strongly of bourbon but is then balanced out by the supple coffee. More chocolate cake, vanilla, roast coffee beans. Mellow sweet finish. Really nice.

Bottle to glass. Pitch black color with a solid brown head. Intense aroma with roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Awesome chocolatey sweetness and coffee bitter in the flavor. Medium body and very drinkable with a nice lingering chocolate in the finish. Fantastic!

9/23/2010. From bottle. Pours black with a large beige head. Strong coffee aromas with chocolate, oak, vanilla. Sweet at first, coffee flavors, then finishes with bitter hops. Fantastic stout.

Bottled: unk When I crowned this bitch, I immediately held it over the sink on account of its excessive pppfffttt! Pours a black ale with a huge light mocha foam, in line with the acoustics provided. Leaves a solid webbing of lace. Smells of oak, vanilla, coffee, sweet cocoa - to be honest, my first sniff made me immediately think of KBS - but easier to get. Really pleasant nose. Flavor is robust with bitter coffee, semisweet chocolate, oak, bits of vanilla and tannin. Body is a hint light probably on account of it’s excess carbonation and dry finish. If the body was adjusted, I think the beer would be leaps better, as it warms it achieves this a bit, but still, the beer is negatively affected by these limits. After awhile, and plenty of swirling, the carbonation died down and the mouthfeel became medium heavy with a really nice finish. This also allowed for more of the sweetness in the flavor to come through, bumped the mouthfeel from 2.25 to 3.5 (since the issue was present) and the flavor up from 4 to 4.5.

Complex. This beer has been aging for a whole. The head disappeared quickly and their is not a strong aroma. But the flavor is intense and the deep red to black color fantabulous. A great sipper for an autumn night. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
