Alexander Black is the first of our seasonal beers. A wintry beer, dark and warming, strong in alcohol, rich and complex with flavors and aromas of dark chocolate and espresso. The basic style is porter, but Alexander Black is a Turbo Porter higher in alcohol, richer and more complex.

This is an enhanced version of our beer that won gold medal in the category of Porter in 2009 Stout Challenge competition. If maintained properly, Alexander Black will continue to improve with time.

Many thanks to tomer for this bottle! Malzig-intensiver Antrunk. Sehr süffig und mild. Weich, fast schon cremig. Toll! 14/14/13/13

Thanks to erzengel!! Pours a very dark brown/black with a small tan head. the smell is dark roasted malt, molasses, dark chocolate. The taste is as it smells with some dryness on the end. Medium in body with average carbonation. Best Israeli beer I’ve ever had.

355 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok during “YATA Oktoberfest” promotion.

Looks: Clear deep blackish brown colour with traces of yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head and soapy light beige foam which fades in 20 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with very slight carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant sweet dark malt, with good roastyness, strong dark chocolate, strong black coffee, sugar, cream, rum raisins, light earth, yeast, light lemon and grass.

Taste: Medium sweet dark malt, with strong roasty, strong nuts, espresso, caramel, burnt toffee, dark chocolate, cream, strong molasses, light raisin, dark fruits, strong yeast, light lemon, bitter hops and grass.

Body: Medium body. Slick and quite thick palate.

Mouth Feel: Full-on roasty and wholesome dark malt. Slick and thick and very nutty. Tastes are rich and colourful: coffee is characteristic espresso, rich dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel and teasing burnt toffee. Good dark fruits and just right sweetness, top with light creaminess. Very nice!

Hoppiness: Light lemon and grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is quite strong, close to the style and matches well with the quietly potent 7% booze for a lasting, quite strong astringent finish.

After Taste: Dry; Espresso-like and quite bitter to mouth.

Comments: My oh my, this last beer from Alexander is the real winner: very malty, well-hopped and roasty, the espresso and dark chocolate aroma and taste are dynamic and permeate throughout. It’s rich and wholesome, probably better than Fuller’s porters. Highly enjoyable and recommended!

12 oz bottle pour split for a tasting. Pours very cola like with a fizzy tan head. Malty nose. Really nice roasted malt flavor with a toasty, bread finish. Nothing spectacular, but this was a pretty fun beer. Not bad.

Some nice roasted malts in both aroma and taste that are not made justice from the thin and watery texture and the quickly flattening carbonation. Decent, but not great.

Bottle, 0.33l, courtesy of Miha. Cloudy dark brown color with medium creamy light brown head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, coffee, dried fruits and licorice. Taste starts with sweet caramel malt with good roasty note, follows by creamy licorice and dried fruits’ acidity, quite mouth-coating with medium bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Smooth & tasty porter...
