Alexander Black is the first of our seasonal beers. A wintry beer, dark and warming, strong in alcohol, rich and complex with flavors and aromas of dark chocolate and espresso. The basic style is porter, but Alexander Black is a Turbo Porter higher in alcohol, richer and more complex.

This is an enhanced version of our beer that won gold medal in the category of Porter in 2009 Stout Challenge competition. If maintained properly, Alexander Black will continue to improve with time.

Bottle from Barrack, all the way from the the holy land. Just a tad past its BB date. Black beer with large head that fades, not much lacing. Aroma has a lot of black unfermented syrup, sweetness, a little bit of mineral. Flavor is sweet, again a bit syrupy. Decent enough porter.

Alexander Black has a thick, foamy, beige head, a dark brown (with lighter brown highlights) appearance, visible tan chunks roiling about, and fairly substantial lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of dark, sweet, brown bread crust, and the flavor is of sweet, slightly charred, dark-roasted malt, balancing hop bitterness, and a touch of sugar and acid. Mouthfeel is medium to full, and Alexander Black finishes wet and sweet. RJT

12 ounce bottle thanks to Barak. Pours a very dark almost jet black color with a small beige head. A nice nose of roast, berries and some ash. The flavor is very strong dark fruit, cocoa, vanilla, lingering roast. Very nice beer. Flavorful. Lighter coffee, dark chocolate. Maybe a tad bit thin. Cola. Solid beer.

Thanks Keren. Dark ruby brown, brown foam head, lacing, lasting. Complex aroma, initial not too nice, but distiguesed chocolate tones. Good taste, light chocolate, bitter coffee, also some winegum (?). Shirt lasting aftertate. (Velp 201503)

330ml bottle. Not merely a solid porter, this is an excellent one, with an ABV, flavor and aroma profile leaning toward an imperial porter or foreign Export Stout. Excellent balance and very good complexity. Higher ABV is hidden excepting some inevitable warming. The aroma (rting approaches 9) is fruitier and even more enjoyable than the fine flavor. There are dates, raisins and other dark fruits in the flavor, with hints of toffee, vanilla, and dark breads. In ends with dark roasted grains, light smoke, toast, and some dark fruits in the finish and aftertaste. Very smooth, near full body.

It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of vanilla. The taste was of roasted malts, bitter chocolate with some earthiness, vanilla and a roasty finish. Nice.

(Alexander Black) Bottle 330 ml from a trade with DSG, thanks for this extra! Served into a shaker, ABV 7% Deep brown colour on the body, good sized and thick brown head, with average retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma has plenty of dark chocolate, molasses, dark fruits, prunes. Taste is quite sweet, again lots of chocolate and dark fruits, stewed prunes, plums, the chocolate returns on the finish along with some roasted malts notes and a light bitterness. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Good beer, highly drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is slightly sour with a bit of licorice in there along with a bit of roasting, and seems very foreign. Taste is moderately roasty and a good mix of bitter and hints of sweetness. Solid brew, all around.
