Based on notes from 032914. Dark blackish brown colour that is marginally transparent, large frothy mostly lasting light brown head, excellent lacing. Heavily malty roasted aroma of caramel, dark chocolate and mild coffee with a hint of licorice, moderate herbal and sprucey hops. Taste is initially moderately sweet and slightly bitter, turning into a slightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter finish with a lightly astringent and burnt feel. Full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. A very nice porter, personally I prefer a bit more complex hoppiness, but certainly in the top ten Iíve tasted.

Bottle, thnx to Tomer. Pours a very dark beer with a small beige head that settles quickly into a small ring. Aroma of vague chocolate, malts and coffee. Flavour has bitter chocolate, some caramel and has a touch of sweet malts in there. Medium long, bitter aftertaste. Decent brew.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2013 Sweet, very gentle and light, slightly creamy texture. Week carbonation. Strong, sweet roasted-fruity flavor at first. Gentle bitter-sweet roasted after taste. Very nice complexity, but a little too gentle and sweet.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2013 Bottle in Jerusalem. Exp date: 10/2014. Pours a thick-looking black with creamy two-to-three-finger beige/brown head that retains for just over a minute before settling to a thin soapy film. No carbonation visible unless glass is tilted. Aroma very warm and pleasant coffee beans, some black licorice, alcohol presence as well. Some vanilla notes, like vanilla-flavored halva. Nice. Smells like itís gonna have a big roasted malt character with dark bitterness. Up front taste is sweet, rootbeer, not as roasty as the nose, which makes it more refreshing than dark and somber. Lots of fine carbonation bubbles in the mouth also enhance the refreshing quality. Bitter finish, but not overly so. Mouthfeel is medium. Alcohol becomes more pronounced as beer opens up in the glass -- in fact, the warming mellows out the carbonation somewhat and brings out earthier qualities. Thereís that vanilla. Lacing is medium. This is a good stout, pretty much no cloying sweetness, but also not dreary, so not a hardcore stout (classified as a porter, anyway). Not stellar but solid -- Iím happy Iíve got another three of these in the fridge.

Bottle from Tlahav, thanks! Almost black. Roast and licorice in the aroma. Malty sweet, creamy, roasty flavor with a hint of licorice. Smooth and tasty. Nice brew.

Tap at the Wildeman, Amsterdam. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin glass hugging tan head. The aroma is earthy, peaty and with a hint of chocolate. The flavour is medium bitter with liqourice, coffee and some dark chocolate on the smooth palate. A super beer from Israel it must be said and my first from this country!

Poured a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roast malt and dark chocolate. Medium body, vanilla smooth and quite lactic - more like a milk stout. Nice.
