Pours a clear deep amber with a small white head. Aroma of grass, citrus and pale malts. Taste is grassy, some citrus presence and a mild bitterness throughout. Not nearly as bad as it thought it would be.

Can. Kinda lame bubbly pour, amber gold. Interesting nose, which is intriguing for a Keiths brew. Floral/grass hops. Tame mouthfeel, but decent bitter hop finish. Not the most appealing pale ale, but actually has some decent execution.

473ml can. Light copper body, medium yellow-orange head with average retention. Aroma of caramel, grapefruit, spices, honey. Taste has a nice bitter kick from the hops, caramel, sweet malts, a tad metallic. Slightly bitter and slightly worse than Hallertauer version, but still decent.

Pours dark yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus hops. Flavour is thin and not representative of the aroma. Tastes of malts but almost watery. The body and flavour are closer to an English bitter. Finish is slightly bitter, but not out of balance.

Bouteille 341ml. Couvrée 5.5%. Odeur d’amertume des IPA, mais au goût elle est peu gouteuse mis à part une petit goût d’agrume. Correcte, mais ne se démarque pas.

It’s funny that Keith’s has decided to call this a "Hop Ale" rather than accidentally try to pass this off as their real IPA. And, it’s a decent offering. Pours orange gold with a lasting off white foamy head. Nose is "hoppy". The flavour of the hop comes through and it’s got a relatively clean flavour. Caramel, pine, peach, citrus, and a bit of bubblegum. Somewhat sweet and a bit grainy at times. The finish is washed out.

Pours clear amber - gold with a bubbly white head and some lacing. Aroma of pine, bubblegum, citrus zest, but a little bit muted all around. Taste is caramel malt up front, with medium hop bitterness in the finish, and slightly metallic after. A little watery, but definitely not terrible.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 7/7/13

Aroma: The nose is sublte hops, grass/orange, along with some caramel notes
Appearance: Pours a clear golden-amber color with a small off-white head
Flavor: The flavor components are much like the nose, it is light sweet and light-medium bitter
Palate: The body of this one is light-medium, it has a decent feel
Overall Impression: This was an alright, though a bit under-hopped APA. It still has more hops and more flavor than their standard IPA though, so that was nice to see. It actually exceeded my expectations.

(Rating #4973)

Not bad, a rounded pale ale style with little definition of hops - more a mild bitterness without much citrus. Sweet malt base and mild-moderate body. Hallertau one is more fun in the ’lightweight’ category.
