UPDATED: FEB 19, 2014 can. Poured medium amber with a thin white head. Orange citrus aroma with a piney hop base. Medium body, crisp mouthfeel, less bitter than I thought it would have been, finishes quite clean. Caramel malt flavour, a bit graniy with some light grapefruit notes. Very drinkable, I’ll be picking this up again.

[5139-20130305] Tap. Mild resin and orange skin aroma. Clear, orange red body with a quick foamy white head. Lightly bittered grains and hoppy orange notes in the flavour. Medium body is quite carbonated. Tasty, an excellent new choice on the tap list for AK. (7/3/8/3/14) 3.5+

A mass produced beer making an attempt at a craft style beer. It is a much improvement from the original "Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale" that tastes just like a water down lager with no trace of hops in the taste, in this new beer you can actually taste some hops in it. It is not a bad start for people who never tasted a hoppy beer

On tap at a royal oak...figured what the heck. Clear amber with a nice white head. Served cold so that helped (got worse as it warmed up) but I did actually get some faint citrus and a fair amount of orange and then of course a bit of the musty caramel malt / marco smell that I have come to expect. High carbonation, mild body, slighly bitter but goes does somewhat easily with an off taste at the end.

Bottle sample @ Edmonton Craft Beer Festival. Brassy gold, average white head. Cereal malt aroma with just a hint of hops. The palate reflects this, and although the pale malts are clean here, the hop presence is measurable in the parts-per-million scale. as an IPA it is a joke. As a mildly hopped ale, it is serviceable. But I’m not sure who they are trying to please here.

The closest to an IPA that Keith’s may ever achieve. (Chortle Chortle). 2oz sample from ABI rep. Clear, amber coloured pour with a weak white head that bubbles away quickly. Aroma is floral, citrusy. Mouthfeel is extremely dry, taste is caramel, hint of citrus, and a flood of Cascade hops that seem to overwhelm most APAs. This didn’t impress me, was much too dry, weakly carbonated. An ok introduction to the hop uninitiated.

Pours a clear copper with little white head that falls quickly and little lacing. Aroma of caramelised grapefuits, light piney notes. Taste has some grapefruits, spicy hops, caramel, light pine, low to medium bitterness. Low body and medium carb. This is more and IPA than their flagship beer that names itself as an IPA. Definitly better than expected but nothing to go crazy for.

473 mL can. Pours clear orange-gold with small white head that does not last long. Aroma of orange, citrus and piny floral characteristic of cascade hops. Tastes light maybe a strong presence of corn. Quite some carbonation, a watery IPA.

Malty hoppish nose, trying but failing. Not much going on for taste. It’s certainly more flavourful than Keith’s more common offering, but the hops are absent and tasteless. Classic industrial swill marketing as a craft brew. Thanks Lagerboy, you always help develop my palate. Cheers
