En fût, robe noire et presqu'aucune mousse, arôme et goût qui se résume à une pauvre torréfaction.

Used to be known as Alexander Keith’s Stag Head Stout, 473ml can poured into a pint glass at 6 degrees:
Thick dark pour with very dark ruby highlights topped by a semi-thick foamy head with a light tan. Head retention is mediocre and the structure doesn’t recall one of a stout head. The nose gives out notes of burnt coffee beans while everything else is pretty subtle. The taste isn’t on the spot with too much fading bitterness and a tremendous lack of body. You don’t get that creamy mouthfeel of the usual stout and the kick from the barley. You’re left with a subtle chocolate/coffee aftertaste and the urge for a real stout.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sure it’s darker than regular Kieths, but the quality is the same. Pours a dark brown, no head to mention. Aroma is caramel, coffee, some chocolate. Taste is fairly restrained. Not much point here.

A stout need not be heavy, try keiths light stout. That is how the story went before smart people stepped in and said you can’t have a light stout, so they changed the name. Pretty bad brown. Taste like roasted malt that is hiding in some carbonated water. Never need to try again.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 7/7/13
Aroma: The aroma is fairly light, it has some dark malts, roast, and a little earth
Appearance: The pour is a clear brownish color with a small brown head
Flavor: The taste is light and malty, not overly sweet, a little dull, almost no bitterness
Palate: The body is light, the beer is plenty drinkable, with a fairly short duration
First off, the brewpub is definitely better than the beer. This is basically just an average macro-level dark ale.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A dark clear brown "ale" with a thick frothy brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel extract, with weird grassy notes. In mouth, a sweetish caramel malt with light peaty notes, roasted, faint Labatt hops, a bit surprised, this is not that bad. 1.99$ for a 500ml can, from a Qc depanneur.

Aroma is one of beer’s most complex features. Aroma is propelled by lively CO2 and dampened by pillowy heads - especially nitrogen foam. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
341ml bottle pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head that leaves some thin spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel and chocolate with a hint of coffee. Taste is malty sweet with hints of chocolate and coffee. Body is thin for the style and carbonation is weak. Overall, flavors are too mild and body too thin for the style and not that great.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Pours black with a medium off white head. hints of roasted malts in the aroma. flavour is way to watered down i can see why they changed the from a stout to a dark ale but didn’t make it taste any better

Truly the most insipid dark beer I have ever drank. Has nice color and that’s about it. A waste of time and money!
