Nova Scotia’s most popular beer, Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale is fully fermented, mellow-aged for smoothness and uses balanced North American flavour and bittering hops to create a unique, malty flavour. Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale is smooth with a slightly floral hop character and a sweet flavour delivery.

341 mL.

330ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, July 15, courtesy of Mike PurpleDragons. Many thanks. Pours clear gold with medium white head. Light dusty malt aroma. Taste is a rather bland blonde with a bizarre vague minty note. Certainly not an IPA. Perhaps a bit old.

Can, bought in Canada - A bright yellow beer, resembles a hoppy lager. Actually I only read afterwards that it should be an IPA - yes...

4/6/2011 10:46:35 AM Can from ISB International Festival. Golden body with medium fuzzy head. Nose corn, water, hops. Lageresque. Taste is hops, with some citrus, but quickly reminds me of an ale or pilsener. Slight metallic notes. Not great altogether.

Looks like a lager. Aroma? Like a pale ale. The taste is weak, like mixed with water. A good alternative to bud, but not much more.

Golden pour from draft at banknote in Toronto. White head. Tastes like a Pilsner. Nothing IPA about this besides the name. Easy to drink though

Does not match traditional taste, aroma, or palate conventions of an IPA. Resembling very much of a lager.

0.341 bottle. Clear gold color and a small, white head. Aroma of pale malts, cheap hops, DMS, and some yeasts. Taste is pretty bad; cheap hops, DMS, and some grains. Light body, thin texture, and fizzy carbonation. Finish is short and very hackneyed. Overall the beer doesn’t even taste like an ale but is more resemblant of a commercial pale lager.

Super flat body. Not very bitter at all. Passable, sure, but still remarkably boring. Good for a bender.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2015 I wanted to be nice because commercially successful macro beers can be automatically vilified by craft beer aficionados. But there is indeed very little here. The nose if fairly faint, the head a bit fizzy and the colour is a thin yellow/orange. Bready malt is easily the most prominent taste in the profile. A spritz of citrus distinguishes it from commercial lagers, but it is not enough to warrant the name "India Pale Ale". It remains a refreshing beverage for social and summer drinking situations, but that is all.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a bright yellow-gold color with a medium sized soapy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was tart and bitter with vague fruity hops and a bit of sugar. The flavor was tart, bitter and thin with some lemon and yeast. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.
