Can from the LCBO- A hazy yellow pour, topped with a creamy white froth. Minute lace. Nose hints at citrus, wheat, some spices, straw. Tastes of subtle citrus, sweet corriander, some yeast, grainy. Curacao too. All of this is subtle though and needs to come out to play a little more. Creamy and mildly citric finish. Hoo hum.

Poured from bottle. Medium gold color, that was slightly cloudy with a very small head that disappeared quickly. Slight citrus aroma and taste. I think I was expecting a lot more from this beer. There is nothing really distinct about it. A little bit too bitter as well. Drinkable, but disappointing.

341ml brown bottle. Pours cloudy gold, some floaties. Head is white, thin, doesn’t last. Citrus and coriander aroma. Wheaty almost toasty flavour, lemon and orange notes. Dry, and pretty watery. Finish has a slight yeast bite and some lingering citrus. Medium body, high carbonation. A pretty bland attempt at witbier. Was expecting a little better for some reason. Rickard’s wins the Canadian "domestic" witbier race.

341 Bottle. Look who has decided to join the mediocre witbier movement in Canada! I suppose this is better than the ice beer trend. Hazy, yellow. Holy shit that’s a lot of citrus in the aroma, candy-like, though not horrible. Heavy citrus and orange with a hint of spice. Tangy, empty finish. Not an offensive attempt at a witbier, though expectedly disappointing.

473ml Can: Alex’s India Pale Ale is a pale lager, and his Stag’s Head Stout is a dunkel.. what am I about to taste now? Pours cloudy orange, the thinnest line of white head. Why does this smell like bubblegum?! Some definite lemon and the usual spice subjects (coriander, clove, black pepper) and that completely out of place Hubba Bubba. Flavour is very mild: Lemon, hints of those spices, and breaks into a biscuity, character-free hop aftertaste. Does their White actually have more hops than their IPA? Oh Labatt, you ridiculous mofolys. A not at all unexpected failure.

From the bottle. I guess if Rickards does it Keiths must as well. The beer looks nice, a hazy kind of orange. The aroma is preasent but very under stated. The flavour is boing and unimpressive. This beer is smooth and easy drinking.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2009 Pours a half-hearted hazy yellow with a small dissipating white head. Aroma is of bananas, bubblegum, coriander and citrus... This sounds good, but is it really weak and artificial smelling. Flavor is soul-less and very commercial. Crystal malt shows up uninvited to this white party. The flavor are similar to the nose with apple and metal. All I have to say is 2 years after the launch of Rickard’s White this is the product Labatt comes out with? I really was expecting a much better product than a molson product but this let me down. This is to whitbier as Keith’s IPA is to IPA. Oh yea and I predicted this would happen, check my Keith’s Red rating in January.

2009-03-29. Pale hazy pastel yellow with a small quick white head. Mild aroma, light spicy yeast, mild fruit. Flavour is likewise, roughly bitter up front, harsh spice is not smooth. Sweetish middle, light ginger or coriander lingers in the finish. Average to thin palate. Not awful but not particularly pleasant either. Bit of a muddled overall impression.
