daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada May 22, 2007 Asked for Rickard’s Red at Casey’s bar and grill when the waitress offered this beverage instead since they were out of Rickard’s that night. Aroma is sweet, mild roasted malts and balanced hops. Brownish red in color with slight head. Flavor is flat, unyielding but quite drinkable. Sweeter than average with coppery finish. Watery mouthfeel. I would prefer Rickard’s Red but Alexander Keith’s Red is a good substitute.
Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 24, 2008 Draught at a restaurant in Truro. Dark amber-red, cream-colored rocky head and scattered lacing. Nutty aroma, woodsy too. Very grassy. Thin. Clean, though. Somewhat nutty with a mild, sweet but not cloying finish. pacaus (42), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2008 The beer was okay but kind of lacked taste, almost tasted flat although it was just purchased. I would rather have the IPA (Lager taste) than the red amber. low_g (96), Scarborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2008 Had at my bro’s on Labour day following an afternoon of biking. Nothing special about this one, is looks nice with its copper red colour, but very boring finish. I’m sure at one time this was a great beer, but Labatt probably had this one dumbed down for the masses much like what Molson did with Rickards Red. semiotic (10), Walton Hills, Ohio, USA Aug 24, 2008 Hey--I’m just rating this beer for what it is...a mass-produced drinkable ale. Compared to others in its class, it’s pretty darn good! More bitter than its Moson counterpart: Rickard’s Red, and tastier, with a lower alcohol content. Roli (286), laval, Quebec, Canada Aug 14, 2008 Bottled. Ok amber ale, not too complex and a lot on the sweet side. Could be a great altenative to other AK beers... but nothing to come back for.
