Very pale and not so tasty bock beer. It drinks like water. Of the big dutch brabds this must be one of the worst.

Fairly light for a bokbier. Pours an amber/ruby colour. Aroma malt, candied sugar. For commercial bokbier it is not too sweet, but it lacks complexity or too much in the way of excitement. It took me a long time to work my way through a six pack of these from the local super market.

Bottle 30cl. Deep brown, bit ruby. Medium off white head. Aroma has some sweetness, but somehow it is a bit chemical? Taste has carbonation and bitterness. Typical bok beer, but nothing special.

Typical Dutch seasonal bock. Not bad at all but also nothing out of the ordinary. Not too sweet with flavors of burned malts caramel some spices and mild bitterness in the finish. nice.

Smells like regular alfa beer, but a bit stronger. Colour is red, which I like. The taste is okay: you can notice it’s an alfa, only a bit heavier with darker hops.

Roodbruine kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt fruit, caramel, iets zoetig. Smaakt fris zoet, caramel en iets kruiden. Prima doorsnee bok.

Voldoende koolzuur aanwezig. De nasmaak is licht bitter. Qua diepte valt hij tegen, wat vlak van smaak zonder een echte body. Geen blijvertje.

Autumn bock of bottom fermentation, like the German version of the genre. Light beige, refined, creamy and stable foam on a clear copper, almost amber beer with a brownish hue, clearly paler than the top-fermented Dutch boks and in that respect again more akin to a German bottom-femented one (the brewery’s proximity to Germany has resulted in a German influence in some of their other beers, too). Nose gets caramel and nuts from malt, perhaps a hint of wheat, honey, orange peel, straw, liquorice, and some kind of vague, suggested woodiness. Tastes smoothly malty, some nuttiness, some caramel, lightly sweet but nowhere cloying, in the end drying up with a very subtle hop bitterness (as is custom in this style) and just a whiff of warming alcohol. Nothing too complex but nevertheless a more than decent bokbier, and I do like the fact that it is made in the German tradition, something rarely seen in Dutch boks.
