Svesse (1877), Hässelby, Sweden Feb 3, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 1 feb 2008) Dark ruby colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with chocolate and dark fruit. Malty, slightly spicy taste with notes of chocolate, hints of clove and/or nutmeg and a spicy, chocolatey finish. Overall very balanced and smooth. Nice and well made bock, without straying too far from the middle of the road.

Pours lovely ruby-red with a medium, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has light caramel, some citric hops with a light smoky note. Highish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is a bit metallic, some sweet malts. Lots of dryness and a light fruitiness. Quite hoppy finish. Okay. sayravai (3224), Helsinki, Finland Sep 28, 2008 (Bottled, drank at about 15C) Clear, dark amber with a smallish, firm head. Aroma of caramel and some roasted malt, with a hint of sourness and smoke. Sweetish-malty, caramely flavor with some alcohol presence, and dried fruit. Almost medium body with quite smooth carbonation. A simple, but smooth and reasonably balanced bock with not too much sweetness. Borresteijn (673), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 13, 2008 Bottle @ a tasting session. Ruby brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Flavour is very metallic, roasted malts and some dark fruits. Quite bitter. Bit thin. Don’t like the metallic flavour at all.
