Golden colour with tight white head. A very strong, sweet aroma mainly of strawberry jam but with some peach and tangerine too. Flavour is also sweet although not as overpowering as the aroma. Luckily it’s a fresh sweetness making it a fairly drinkable beer.

Bottle, 7.5%. Citric, vinous aroma, not too pleasant. Dark golden colour, very small white head. Alcoholic flavour and peppery finish. Also quite sweet. Typical European Strong Lager.

Bottle at home. Gold color, nice head. My first Dortmunder, quite spicey and swett too. Tasted caramel and a bit of peach.

Form the bottle into a tall boy glass. Bright, sparkling, honey gold with tight, fine carbonation sustaining a tight, well formed, dense head of cream that laced well. Appearance, lovely! Slightly leftfield ’eggy’ nose lasted a few minutes before subsiding to reveal some sweet candi and fresh toasted grains. Simple. It is grainy, sweet and spicy in the mouth filling all corners but lacking in the middle.Soft on the tongue with a faintly fruity, bitter and spicy hop swallow that is void of the ABV. Residually sweet, it holds some mango and peach juices in the mouth long between swallows. Nothing disagreeable here, all neat and tidy, smooth and quenching. Not too bad a drop. Just needs more essence in the core!!! (30cL, BBE 12/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Emmaneul (16) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 6, 2006
Bottle 0,3l. Golden/Amber. Grassy hops, malts, alcohol, and some diacetyl?. A bit of honey and apple can be distinguished when warmer. Sweet, a bit caramel, soft carbonation, and hop. A finish with hop and malt bitterness (bread/caramel) and sweetness. Nice and hoppy with some good dry caramel/bread-like malts. Pleasant, but ’super’? No.

Bottled. Dark golden colour, small white head. Malts, buttery and caramellish hints. Quite much grassy and honeyish hints also. Flavour is malts, slight honey and bready. Pleasant and easy-to-drink.

[Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm] Clear golden, dense head. Buttery papery malt aroma. Malt sweet with generous amounts of bready malt and butter. On top of that there’s some grassy hops. An aromatic, very well balanced beer completely relying on it’s excellent malt character.
