2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2007 Aroma was surprisingly rich with caramel and toffee, with a slight hop presence and some grainy notes. Taste was sweet, almost cloyingly sweet, finish has a bit of bitter hoppyness, but not enough in my opinion. Mouthfeel was satisfactory, medium/light. Overall it was less then average but better than i expected.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
The 11.2 ounce bottle poured a clear golden yellow beverage with a medium sized white frothy head that was mostly diminishing and left some lacing on the glass. The aroma was somewhat balanced with significant contributions from a roasted malt nose. There were also some hints of creamed corn however. The body was light with a soft carbonation and a watery texture. The flavor started off lightly sweet but quickly turned a bit bitter and harsh leaving a dry, tart mouthfeel toward the end of the medium-length finish.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled. Beer is clear, light copper-gold. Head is initially larger-than-average, frothy, white. Diminishes quickly leaving chunks of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is malty with trace notes of husky toasted grain; Hoppy with trace notes of wild flower; Intermittent trace buttery note—maybe diacetyl.

The flavor is light-to-moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic with short, lightly bitter, lightly sweet finish. Some grassy metallic in the retros.

The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is fizzy.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Pours a surpisingly lush dark gold, with a nice head of off-white and intricate lacing. Smells of watered down vegetable juice and government-issue honey. Flavor is a spikey rush of artificial sweetener and corn, with a slight floral finish. Watery mouthfeel. I guess this would be okay to drink if I was IN Spain, but I’m in Houston so it doesn’t work for me right now.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
My 12oz bottle was labeled "Alhambra Especial Premium Lager" in gold lettering, and it was 5% ABV.
Crystal clear light golden pour with a vanishing white head. Sweet crystal malt aroma, cereal flakes and sweet corn syrup. Flavor was light and sweet, with subtle ripe fruit notes of old apples. Middle was papery, with a pale malt hint, some maize, leading to a grassy, straw like finish. Better than expected.

3.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Maybe my bottle was relatively new, but I thought this was a pretty decent lager from start to finish. A little funkyness in the aroma, apples. Still, a nice hoppiness and one that I found worth trying.

0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Dirty and sweaty aroma, like a drunk farmer. A tad grainy, tart/astringent and overall pretty gross. Lightly bitter finish.
Ugly on the whole. Pale golden color, small head.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Especial Premium Lager. 5.0% ABV. I assume this is the same beer, with a lower alcohol content. The name is the same, but the ABV differs. Dark gold in color with a loose white head. Aroma of cardboard, alcohol, toffee, pear. Surprisingly bitter. Rather thin in body and dry. Not much in the flavor deptartment but hints of toffee and alcohol.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml brown bottle, embossed. Says 5.4% alc on this one
Regular Euro lager appaearance light golden with a large fluffy white head.
Aroma is pretty grassy/grainy. Some doughy scents too.
Taste is semi-sweet, quite noticabl malty with peppery hoppiness appearing soon after and in the after taste.
Quite "soft" on the palate, lowish carbonation.
Overall an average European lager, but its quite nice and better than American macro type lagers.
