Commercial Description:
Only our master brewers have the competence to create beers following rules set by years of tradition. Alhambra Especial is an excellent example of this. It is brewed with style and dedication, incorporating the knowledge and wealth of experience required to produce such a beer. The presentation is incomparable, different yet modern. The bottle is dressed in gold and white – symbolic of its purity. It projects an image of elegance.

Editor's Note: known in the U.S. as Especial Premium Lager and reduced slightly in alcohol to 5.0%.

12 oz. bottle pours cloudy apple juice gold color with white head that dissipates quickly without leaving any lacing. Aroma is of apples and bread. Front palate is sweet and yeasty, with a rotten apple middle and a sour finish. Not a spectacular beer, tastes like a nasty Spanish version of Bud and apple juice. Ick.

330ml bottle. Labeled as Alhambra Premium Lager. Pours clear golden in color with thin white head. Aroma and taste of malt and grain with clean finish. Drinkable Pale Lager, nothing to write home about.

Bought in Casablanca, Morocco, under the name of "Alhambra Premium Lager". This implies that I have forgotten, or somehow misunderstood, what the word "premium" means. Looks all right, tastes of water and vaguely metallic. Utterly forgettable, but at least it avoids the defects of other beers I’ve had in Morocco.

Bottle courtesy of Daknole. Next country: Spain. This one was a bit of a gusher when I opened it. Pours a semi-hazy honey color with 2 finger white head. Nose is grass, malt and some floral hops. Taste is sweet malt and grain with a touch of sour hops in the finish. Light-to-Medium mouth feel. Not a bad lager for the region.

Poured with a white head and a bit of lace. Clear golden yellow color, medium size bubbles. Had a malty, grassy, grainy, a tad bitter, and a hint of butterscotch. Flavor was about the same. Not bad beer. Decent body. Good finish. Could drink more of these. Had it at Cubanitas Restaurant in Milwaukee last night.

courtesy of Antonio Rey Ruiz - clear bright golden colour under a foamy white head;; solid grassy nose with a touch of dust and pepper; good malt body, some sweetness and slightly oily; moderate bitterness before a quite long herbal finish - great balance
