Deep red/brown with a minimal, but present, head and lace. Slight caramel malt on the nose. Taste is syrupy sweet, almost like a cola, with no hops to check the sweetness. Thin, watery mouthfeel, low carbonation, and the sweetness lingers longer than I’d like.

Bottle 330ml. Not great, too thin for me. Aroma of cola, with a hint of caramel. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and average duration. Palate is thin and watery. Dark brown, with a fizzy head.

Black appearance. The aroma has a strong alcohol component, and is similar to a red wine. The flavor has some caramel malt, plus a small amount of hops. Overall, though, there isn’t a whole lot of flavor in this beer. It’s alright, but not overly distinctive.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Crisp dark lager. Distinct bittersweet chocolate undertone. Nice!

330ml bottle. Dark and tinged with red flecks throughout and capped with a moderate creamy tan head. Roasted malt and caramel aromas come to the fore and carry through to the flavour. Light on the palate with an aniseed aftertaste. Very pleasant.

Bottle: Very deep amber coloured with ruby spots, small off-white with a little lacework; moderate dryish roasty to dark-malty nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; slight coffeeish traces in the roasty-caramelly finish. Not bad........

Dark colour with a bit of foam. Not much flavour when chilled. As it warmed up it started to taste more and more like beer. At most places they’ll serve this far colder than it should be. An OK beer, really.

Bottle, 1 year ago. Really dark, with reddish hints against the light. The head is brown and low, disappears fast. The aroma is weak, with hints of fruits and nuts. Nice but too weak. The taste is very watery, not much can be distinguished apart from the roasty, unpleasant bitterness.

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, dark brown colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Roasty malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, leaves and a touch of wet cardboard. Moderately sweet and slightly roasty bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Slightly papery roast-malty and leafy taste; moderately dry and roasty bitter finish with a tinge of chocolate and caramel in the lasting aftertaste. Rather a Schwarzbier than a Dunkel. 06.VIII.10
