330 ml etched-label green bottle bought at CitySuper in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Clear golden amber colour; One-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Strong sweet smell of malt, with initial light skunk (gone in 1 minute), corn syrup, grains, faint floral, bread, faint lemon and smelly grass; Moderate sweet taste of malt, with light syrup, faint wet cardboard, bread, light grains, light lemon and light grass; Medium body, oily thick and slightly creamy palate; Mouth feel is pretty malty despite a rather thin palate, sugar syrupy taste is fairly low, actually tasted quite nice. Good feel of thick white bread, with very slight wet cardboard. No fusel, no screaming booze, nor any other off tastes bar some very light residual skunks. Pretty good… Hoppiness is faint lemon and smelly grass in nose, light citrus and faint grass taste. Barely detectable bitterness for a fruity, slightly sweet finish; Fairly dry after taste, slightly creamy and easy to mouth.

Comments: Initial skunky hops aside, this is a really well-made Euro Strong Pale - sweetness is very subdued, booze has no fusel nor band aid, pretty fat maltyness, nice thickness with slight creamy palate - Pretty enjoyable all the way. If the brewer can do away the stupid green bottle, it’ll be even better. Recommended.

(Bottle): Pours a clear golden colour, medium white head. Aroma of grain, soap, grass. Flavour is quite sweet caramel, malt, grain, citrus fruits. Not bad overall considering the style, was expecting much worse from the aroma.

Bottle in the Kings Head, Wells. Clear deep gold beer with a good white head. Palate is fairly dry with a light crispness. Dry malt, a little cream. Light minerals. A whisper of hop - marmalade. Finishes smooth. A touch dry but okay.

Here you have a decent aromatic and refreshing beer, perfect for summer, although a little watery.
