I want to like this desperately since its from 2 breweries I love. Aroma is like baby food, taste adds apples and brettanomyces. Disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Milltown - thanks, Ethan! Interesting variation on (I assume) Allagash’s base tripel. Cloudy gold pour with plenty carb, and a ripe, raw look to it. Certainly quite yeasty in the nose too, along with prominent spice and quite mild smoke (from smoked grain? smoked malt?). Almost like the tripel with a quarter traditional ale blended in or something, a modest addition to a solid beer. But the overall impression is that some of the tripel’s quality is docked, while it’s not fully realized as a trad or a smoked.

Wanted to do a half pour, but Leon’s wasn’t having it, so I gave half away to my server. Perhaps I will be rewarded with some beer karma. Pours barely darker than a lager with good head and lacing. The scent of cloves permeates your nostrils like you have just walked into mountain antique shop. The sweet, bitter, and spiciness blend together well in this very original brew. From tap @Mikkeller & Friends. Unclear yellow golden body. Small white head. Spicy, light sourish-sweet fruit aroma. Grassy notes and a whiff of smoke. Faint smoky flavor, paired with a fine fruitiness and some sweet-accenteted malts. Well-bodied. Light sweet and hop-bitter finish. Nicely balanaced and very tasty. [26.03.13

Pours a pretty clean soft straw yellow with two fingers of dense white head. Nose shows soft stone fruits and some spicy esters. Smoke plays a moderate role here and definitely shows itself in the flavor and aroma, not over the top though. A soft malty sweetness and spicy yeast character balance and compliment the smoke well. Light bodied and dry with a slightly zesty quality.

from notes on 09/27/12, 12 Oz draft in tulip at Great Lost Bear.  Copper, clear, nose of Belgian yeast but subtle. Taste not so much. Comes on strong, just a hint of smoke from the name. 8.5% $6.75. Seems like a stronger, less sweet, and somewhat thicker version of their wit. Too much flavor, gets overwhelming at the 2/3rd mark. Keep this one at 8 or 10 oz and it’s decent.

Draught @ Mikkeller & Friends
[ We are Opening A New Bar In Copenhagen Event ],
Stefansgade 35, DK-2200 Copenhagen N, Denmark.

Unclear medium orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, orange - citrus, dry hops, smoke, wood, light to moderate yeasty. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, wood, sweet smoke, yeasty and a bit messy IMO. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130316]
