750ml w/ mpersinger (thanks to Nate). Pours black with nice off white head. Aroma of belgian yeast (spicy, phenolic), coffee. Tastes of black licorice , some coffee and chocolate, black patent malt, not too hoppy, but good balance. Mineral-like finish. This is a creative and amazing brew.

From 750 ml bottle at Nate’s tasting. Pours very dark with brown halo and no head. Aroma is distinctly clean Belgian yeast. Flavor of soft black licorice and flat Pepsi, leading rapidly to a mineral finish. Lean (not watery) body, good carbonation and complexity.

Thanks to rcasta. Poured black with a nice brown head. A different stout, I think Allagash was creative. Tasted more like belgian strong ale, very malty and sweet.

Bottle (batch 4). Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain/nuts, chocolate/cocoa), with light notes of vanilla and chalk, hint of lemon zest. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Previous bottle (same batch) I tried was somewhat infected, so I waited to rate from my second bottle, which wasn’t. So, beware of sourish, almost "Fantome-like" bottles. Even in good shape it’s still pretty ordinary for the most part. Not a lot of Belgian character, pretty much a straight stout/porter kinda thing. Kinda cocoa-powdery/chalky nose, not the most enticing but ok. Nice balance keeps you drinking even though it’s not exciting.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a black brown color with a tiny light brown bubbly head. Some lacing. Nose is dirt and coffee grounds. Medium to thin mouthfeel. and medium finish. Basic.

Bottle. Body-dark brown with a thin ring of bubbles. Nose-dry, tea, tannic. Taste-nut shells, rye, tea, light perfume, brown ale notes, pecan shells, very enjoyable. I could drink this all day, everyday.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a hazy deep brown with a light brown head atop. Aroma of chocolate, hard toffee, nuts, tobacco, and candi sugar. Taste is roast, chocolate, coffee, lactose, alcohol, and Belgian yeast. Taste is light bubbles and a bit viscous.
