Aroma is roasty and mild, with a touch of chocolate. Flavor is really smooth and well-blended. I am surprised at how smooth the flavors and the body roll over my tongue. It is almost like an aged stout, but this might only have a couple months of age. Smooth and chocolaty with a nice roasty finish. jkwalking05 (1501), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Draught at The Big Hunt. Black with a medium beig head. Sweet and fruity aroma, with some caramelized and light licorice notes. Not very roasty on the whole. More Belgian than stout, but what would you expect from Allagash? Lots of fruit, with a good pear quality showing, and a light chocolate and molasses sweetness. The dark candi sugar is quite evident as well. Medium-full, silky mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this, but it really isn’t much of a stout, just a really dark belgian ale. GreatLibations (1470), Last Supper, Arizona, USA

Medium nectar w/ creamy, expansive residual effers. Beautifully balanced flavors of cocoa and darkfruit intermingle w/ a moderate roast component. A striking hop profile bitters this to a classic level. The finish lingers. One awesome brew! Borresteijn (1452), Amsterdam, Netherlands

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Poured on the warm side this beer is solid black with ruby on the edges and a thick and tight 3-finger khaki head. The aroma is sour Belgian funk on top of a layer of wonderful stout coffees, chocolates, and roasted malts. The flavor is sweet like brown sugar at first followed by a wallop of roasted malts (coffee, chocolate) which then displays Belgian funk but lingers with chocolate. Some alcohol comes through as well, but juuuuust barely. The mouthfeel is medium in body and carbonation.
