COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Black, our new Belgian style stout, is brewed with German 2 row barley, Torrified wheat and oats, balanced by a large addition of Belgian dark candi to give the Black a full and silky mouthfeel. Roasted malts give this stout its classic chocolate, toast and malty taste, and contribute to chocolate notes and a hint of roasted coffee in the aroma. The Black is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain and refermented in the bottle with the methode champenoise to make this beer truly unique. Availability: 750 ml bottles, 5.17 gal kegs ABV: 7.5% Original Gravity: 1.072 Recommended Serving Temperature: 55°F Recommended Cellaring Temperature: 55°F

750 ml. A deep & rich stout w/ a very light yeast finish. This ale is just too smooth; the lite roast is easily left in the shadow of the dry alcohol palate. A huge hit from Allagash, & def. one they should consider making 4-pack of...

On tap at MacGregor’s Greece. Dark pour with minimal head. Nose is standard - dominated by roasted/toasted malt, a touch of chocolate. Mouthfeel starts oily and sweet then turns dry and grainy as it is held in the mouth. Interesting, I liked it. Chocolate malt taste in the palate.

Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of earthy, coffee and basement aromas. Tastes of roasted malt, sweetness and coffee. Full bodied. Good balance.

APPEARANCE - nice black body, super light head. NOSE - mostly Belgian on the nose initially. FLAVOR - surprisingly light flavor considering the advertisement on the bottle of roastiness. NOTES - good, but more like a Belgian than a roasty dark beer.

Taste is chocolate, brown sugar, and spicy Belgian yeast, which then fades into a coffee finish. Good.

Black dark black pour with tan head. Smell of dark roast and some Belgian beer type spices. Flavor if dark roast with a Belgian yeast finish.

Old rating. Dark brown pour. Slight smoke, Belgian, chocolate, spices, little thin and bubbly for such a dark beer.

Allagash’s stout offering is an outlier in the style. It’s smokey, yet it retains some of that familiar spiciness that Allagash borrows from Belgian counterparts. Pours black on black with a beautiful, pillowy head. One of my favorite Allagash brews and is 100% recommended to fans of Belgian beers and stouts.

Pretty good aromas of cocoa and coffee. Jet black with big foam head. Taste of coffee and cocoa as well good rich breadlike finish.
