The heavily roasted malts make the body of this beer really hold up against any stout. I’d have this one again. BREWMUSKCLES (1094), New Jersey, USA

Great stout, I could keep this in regular rotation during the winter if it wasnt so hard to come across. The oats really thicken the mouthfeel and when combined with the opaque body you would really think you were drinking and imperial stout. Very nice. jstraw (778), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Feb 23, 2008 750ml bottle. Deep black color with a nice lacy white head. Mild fresh aroma. Deep candi sugar sweetness. Really quality beer. Mild, crisp, and drinkable, but with a thick, mouth-lacing chocolate candi aftertaste. Perfectly covers the alcohol. A great beer for Stouties and Belgophiles alike. Leighton (311), New York, New York, USA

Pours a dark brown with a strong, off-white head. Nose of roasted and sweet malts, some yeast, and hints of coffee. The foundation of the rich, complex flavor is a burnt malt character, with notes of chocolate and expresso, some breadiness and an oat taste. Mild yeast presence. Pretty full body and silky smooth. A bit chewy. Pleasant roasted malt aftertaste. Really great stuff. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a thick chocolate colored head. Aroma was thick, roasted malt, and tobacco. Taste was sweet, roasted malt, tobacco flavored smokiness with a tinge of a copperiness. Thick and hardy on the palate. An excellent brew. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Pours a visibly effervecent opaque black with an airy, puffy beige head that retains very well. The nose is full of rich espresso notes, dark chocolate, dust, some metallic flavours, smoke and mild caramel. The flavour is identical to the aroma with the addition of some citric tones. It is wonderfully roasty and aromatic. The finish is very dry. The mouthfeel is prickly, medium bodied, and has a nice long palate duration.
