COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Black, our new Belgian style stout, is brewed with German 2 row barley, Torrified wheat and oats, balanced by a large addition of Belgian dark candi to give the Black a full and silky mouthfeel. Roasted malts give this stout its classic chocolate, toast and malty taste, and contribute to chocolate notes and a hint of roasted coffee in the aroma. The Black is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain and refermented in the bottle with the methode champenoise to make this beer truly unique. Availability: 750 ml bottles, 5.17 gal kegs ABV: 7.5% Original Gravity: 1.072 Recommended Serving Temperature: 55°F Recommended Cellaring Temperature: 55°F

Bottle. Pours black with a thick chocolate colored head. Aroma was thick, roasted malt, and tobacco. Taste was sweet, roasted malt, tobacco flavored smokiness with a tinge of a copperiness. Thick and hardy on the palate. An excellent brew.

Pours a visibly effervecent opaque black with an airy, puffy beige head that retains very well. The nose is full of rich espresso notes, dark chocolate, dust, some metallic flavours, smoke and mild caramel. The flavour is identical to the aroma with the addition of some citric tones. It is wonderfully roasty and aromatic. The finish is very dry. The mouthfeel is prickly, medium bodied, and has a nice long palate duration.

on tap at Taco Mac, Crabapple. Nice deep black with tan head (not sure what it looked like upon pour). Big huge smooth silky body with chocolate, big coffee and deep roasted malts. Nice finish with a touch of bitterness to round it out. Overall an excellent Belgian style stout that is worth exploring again.

Nice dark dark brown with decent brown fluffy/rocky head. Aroma is all Belgian funk with a little edge of dark roasted coffee and a whisper of dark chocolate. Silky feel. Flavor has more of the coffee, sweet dark chocolate, accented very well by Belgian yeast. A really nice version of a stout. THe style description "foreign stout" describes the taste pretty well.

Poured from Bottle. Very foamy, stable, white head. Slightly sour aroma. Taste of fruit and sourdough balanced with a little nuttiness, but not the intense toast flavor you may expect from the color.

This is a beauty! Pours nearly pitch black with a very creamy coloured head that sticks around for awhile. Some lacing in glass. Nose is dark fruit with maybe a small hint of coffee. Up front same idea, prunes, maybe some lighter plums. Middle and back are maltier, with coffee and maybe a hint of dark chocolate. Light carbonation and a pretty smooth feel in the mouth. Great beer!

Poured into a goblet. No head, only a faint covering, dark amber to brown colored. Bubbles visible. Smells spicy, molasses, black licorice, yeasty and roasted malt. Bold and rich flavor. Roasted malt, some sweetness at the beginning, bready, lots of burnt malt at the end. Complex profile and perfectly put together. Light and "fluffy" texture. Low carbonation. Incredible! Just a bit more on the appearance and this is near perfect.

Aroma of dark chocolate shavings and black coffee. Pours close to black with a medium.but thick head (thanks to the nitro). Tastes of roasted coffee with hints of chocolate. Finishes with a sweet iron taste thanks to the Belgian yeast. Great stout!

Draft at Sierra. Great color and nose. Aromas lead it to be higher than 7.5 but overall a great smooth flavorful beer.

Pours black with a large head. Aroma is strong, of roast coffee beans, chocolate, and a little licorice. Flavor is about the same. This is your basic stout in style, but a very high-quality one. Very nice flavor, but not at all offensive, and rather smooth. The slight alcohol burn was nice. Overall excellent. Perhaps the best non-Imperial stout I’ve had thus far. Thanks Allagash.
