3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle marked 2222. Nose is dark roast, dry with a little chocolate, many, that is ridiculously joyous roast in the nose, fresh coffee with plenty of Maillard, a little chicory. Dark brown-black with a hint of light shining through and a creamy, foamy light brown head. Taste is sweeter than expected, not cloying or even sugary, but that candis is front and center and attacks from the first sip. Airy with good maintenance of the roast but the Belgian yeast and candis move it to the bg. Just a hint of fruit, and the alcohol is masterfully hidden. Smooth and silken medium body, quenching and just super repeatable -- much prefer this Black to their White.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Pours...well, Black...with no head. Aroma is dark roast coffee, slightly floral. Taste is dark and earthy - the wheat/oats give nice body. Somewhat of a smoky or burnt coffee acridity here. Belgian yeast characterics come through with some fruitiness.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Unique, very appealing Belgian aroma. Coffee colored with thin tan head. What a nice complexity of Belgian and traditional stout notes with smooth feel across the tongue. The finish is crisp, clean and quite satisfying. A very good brew.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours about the darkest shade of brown possible. Aroma is malt, chocolate, cocoa nibs, roasty, and coffee. Taste is cocoa nib bitter up front, chocolate milk, huge caramel, a semi-sweet chocolate, roasty, smoke, chocolate malt, sweet cereal grain, black coffee. Very palatable for such a big beer. Overall fantastic, can’t say we have much experience with a belgian dark but damn is this tasty. Get AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE OF THIS.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from a craft beer store in Boston. 750ml. Poured into a make shift snifter in my hotel room. Pretty much a black pour with some off-white head. Aroma of coffee, Belgian yeasts, roasted malts, and cocoa nibs. Taste is coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla and heavy Belgian yeasts. Smooth, carbonated mouth feel. Kind of a weird oat-biscuit flavor as well. Not sure about this one. I like porters but when combined with the Belgian yeasts it is odd.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not very aromatic in my opinion. Taste a bit like caramel and coffee, clean, crisp finish. Light body. Meh.

Very carbonated in bottle. Deep black, smooth and creamy, not overpowering. Initial Belgian character that fades quickly.

3.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very good, not much of an aroma, what I found on usual. However it tastes like a very good stout. Smooth finish.
