4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 davey101 (494) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 18, 2013
12 oz bottle into a goblet. 2432 on the label, I believe this guy has a bit of age on it.
A - Pours a black body with a finger of grey khaki foam that lasts forever. Really nice lacing and retention.
S&T - Aroma’s of roast, chocolate, and some subtle fruity Belgian yeast. Very simple and inviting. Taste is again o chocolate and roasted malts which is finished by light and fruity yeast esters. Its just a hint of that bannana/clove/bread thing which works incredibly well with the stout base. Its clean, tasty, and simple. Rich and creamy mouth feel.
O - I’ve always ignored this one for some reason. I guess the idea of Belgian yeast in a stout didn’t sound like it would be up my alley. However, I’m really digging this beer. Its really easy drinking and pleasant and the Belgian touch is just right.

Taste: more chocolate and lots of it. tiny bit of coffee. More caramel.
Palate: thin but not bad. Quick.
Solid, but 7 months didn’t do as much as I had hoped.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ROGUE (1566) - Newark, Delaware, USA - APR 25, 2013
750ml bottle. Pours an opaque black color with a one finger tan head that falls to a lasting ring. Aroma of Beligan candi sugar, light fruit, light roasted malt and mocha. Flavor starts with a smooth lightly toasted grainy malt upfront with a touch of cocoa powder. Dark candi sugar notes meet with a tasty, somewhat earthly yeast flavor in the middle, followed by light clove and banana. Finishes with a soft bitterness. The oats really bring a silkiness to the palate. Medium bodied, velvety smooth and rich.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 niday2288 (70) - - APR 18, 2013
Pour is dark dark brown with a light tan head. Nose is nice with hints of cocoa and coffee with definite roasted maltiness. There is a nice hoppiness to this as it hits the back if my tongue. There is certainly good notes of roasted chocolate malt and a slight sweetness like molasses. Mouthfeel is medium but very lively. Good effervescence which may detract from the flavor slightly. All in all pretty good.
