Allagash Confluence Ale is created with a mixed fermentation; utilizing our house primary Belgian style yeast in combination with our proprietary Brettanomyces strain. The two yeast strains work in tandem creating a marriage between spice and fruit flavors that ultimately leave a lingering silky mouth feel. Confluence is brewed with a blend of both imported pilsner and domestic pale malts as well as a portion of caramel malt, resulting in a complex malty profile. Tettnang and East Kent Golding hops are added in the brew process to balance the intricate malty profile while adding a sweet and spicy citrus aroma. After fermentation, Confluence undergoes a lengthy aging process in stainless steel tanks to enhance the flavors. Prior to bottling, it is dry hopped with a Glacier hops, providing a pleasant balance of aromas. Confluence is then bottle conditioned and aged in our cellar prior to release. On tap at Cask and Vine with Mr Barleywine. Light and fruity with a bretty funky earthy edge to it. Cereal grains and bits of earthy hops round this one out nicely.

Pours a slightly hazy gold on tap with fluffy white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma is sour funky brett up front with pils malt and fruit back end. Taste is Belgian fruity esters with a buttery middle and tart brett back end. Good carbonation, refreshing and easy for the abv. Good stuff.

Draught at the Churchkey, Washington, DC as Confluence 2014. Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Spices, mild yeast, malt and some fruits in the aroma. The flavour is yeasty bitterness, spices, herbs and malt. Quite unbalanced to me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great belgian with a good amount of care taken to get it right. The dry hopping gives it a dimension that not many others have.

Bottle, 2013 vintage, shared with my wife, TvM, and Kirsten. Hazy orange-tinted gold, very lively white head. Austere pale malts, low-med sweetness, modest Brett character, grassy hoppy finish. Quite nice.

crazy complex mix of fruits, spices, hops, and malts, while still managing tobe fairly light and refreshing on the palate, especially for a stronger beer. the brett is actually barely noticeable, but lends another level of complexity. still renews the debate whether or not Allagash is worth the price (after all, Id hope a $16 bottle of beer would be good) but this was unique enough and cool enough to be worth it...just not often."

Draft at Mekong. Pours yellow and cloudy with a thin white head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Has a bit of fruitiness on the nose. Has a bit of tartness on the tongue. Its not terribly boozy. Theres a bit of floral hoppiness on the to finish to remind you this a beer. Its solid though I was hoping it would be bigger.
