4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft – Max’s. Cloudy gold, creamy white head. Apple cinnamon and grassy apricot- pear aromas ride light undercurrents of bretty funk and yeast. Soft crisp fruity barnyard flavors balance on a touch of peppered honey, straw, and cheese. Quite complex as it nears room temp. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, fruity finish. Certainly worthy of your attention….

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
GABF 2009. Pours clear light yellow with an average, frothy white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (hay, straw, meal), light hop (flowers, herbs), average yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of banana, clove, and wine. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. Some brettanomyces aroma.

Pour is pale straw with a think head. Nose is complex containing, lemon, orange peel, spice, cloves, ginger and of course hint of the brett. Sourness is complemented by a slight sweetness. Feel is medium body and a tingle moderate to low carbonation. Finish is of honey. I like this beer. I really like this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a cloudy light orange with a large white head. The brettanomyces is quite apparent in the aroma, giving off a pleasant tart aroma on top of light fruit and cream. Flavor is good, but nothing new: Slightly sour with nice creaminess again, apricot, banana, clove. Medium viscosity, average mouthfeel. There’s something intangible here that has me bumping it up a couple of notches in the overall impression score; maybe it’s just its overall quality - very high all around. Overall, very good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This bubbly golden ale poured with a generous white head and a fruity aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor that is not as fruity as the aroma would indicate and a pleasant spicy finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
draft @ Brouwer’s Sour fest - via a firkin I guess; orange, faint haze and fluffy white head; yummy aromas of pears, light syrup, spice and honey; texture is soft and flavor profile subtle; honey, grassy malts and spicy sweetness; my type of brew with the overall softness

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft @ The Trappist. Pours a bright, clear, honey-golden color; white head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Nicely bretty, funky aroma: lime, breadiness; quite crisp and dry. Lively carbonation. Medium mouthfeel: light acidity, lime, toasty crackers and grains with honey notes and esters, but still crisp and reasonably dry overall; very nice Belgian Ale, definitely. Touches of white pepper add nicely. Lengthy finish of toastiness, pepper and honey.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle purchased at Mac’s on West Peachtree. It was the last bottle and damn near $20! Oh well, you only live once. I will say the beer has a nice haze yellow/orange (gold) color. It has a nice fluffy head that makes for a nice looking beer. Slight yeast aroma, but the thing I love about it (aroma) the most is the sour/tart brett aroma; nice aroma I must say. You get a slight sweet malt aroma with a nice sourish backing.Flavor is rather weak. There is that underlying tart/brett flavor, but then you also have that sweet malt and yeast flavor as well. The flavors aren’t popping out at me as I thought they would. The beer, for being as expensive as it is, didn’t really live up to its potential, flavor wise. The beer is smooth, but again, I just think the flavors need to make a little bit more of an impact on the tastebuds.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at 2009 GABF. 7.5% ABV. Pours a thin head over a pale yellow (SRM 3) slightly cloudy body.....nose with clove, ginger, lemon, orange, and a bit of funk.....taste is similar with layers of spice and fruit intermingling with barnyard and sweat....mouth feel is medium, carbonation low. This is a lovely complex thing with all the variations one would expect.
