Bottle @ home, cracked open to celebrate finishing my second master’s degree and the crown jewel of JetsonFest II. Opened the 375 with a slight pop though it didn’t gush. Beautiful pinkish peach, cloudy appearance with a mild to moderate sized white head. The aroma just has a ton of cheese, funk, and barnyard elements very reminiscent of a nice Belgian-made gueuze. The cherry element in the nose is fairly mild but packs a mild tartness and a nice sweet, pie-like aroma. Tons of cheese in the nose. I’m in love so far. Quite tart pie cherry taste in the flavor that is again a bit in the background compared to the cheesy, funky elements. The tartness does jump in and pucker your cheeks immediately. Good carbonation leads a refreshing acidity. The cheesy, funky, lactic/lemon element, while quite prominent in the flavor, isn’t as perfect as the aroma. Puckering, funky finish with a very nice, lasting aftertaste. I think maybe I would have liked a bigger cherry presence, but fuck, beggars can’t be choosers. Aroma was unbelievable. Tasted next a 2009 Cantillon Kriek and the aroma on this one was far superior and far less sour in the flavor.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, huge thanks to Aaron for opening the bottle! Orange-pink pour with thin white head, aroma has notes of Parmesan cheese, cherry pie with nice sour lemon, lactic notes, touch of dusty earth, funky sour, this is awesome. Taste is nice funky basement, horseblanket, some slight grass and lemon notes, touch of cherry, big funky dirty socks, finishing fairly tart with some cherry notes. Way more funky on the taste, with a big dry white wine dryness. Very tasty.

Pours a nice pink color with an off-white head. The cherries certainly come through. A bit of a cherry pie type aroma along with oak and grass. A bit on the sweet side. The flavor does have a significant cherry component, but it’s also a bit watery. Lightly sweet with a mild lemon tartness. Not much in the way of depth or complexity, but easy to drink.

Appearance: Pours a light pink with a thin film of bubbles.
Aroma: Swimming pool and cherry.
Taste: Metallic and barn yardy funk and sour cherry.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation.
Overall: I enjoyed the Balaton better than this, still fun to try.

Pour from a bottle into a snifter gave a pinkish light red color. Modest amount of carbonation. Really great aroma of funky earthiness along some faint cherry. The smell is quite similar to a Belgian Lambic for sure. Medium to light body and no notice of alcohol considering this an 8.3% beer. Flavors are very well balanced with moderate tart character without acetic notes. The fruit and tart cherry is there without jumping out at you.Finish is nice and dry. Really enjoyed this beer.

Bottle at a tasting at James’ place. Pours a fairly hazy gold with a thin white head. Big funky yeast, a little bit of smoke, toast, and acid. Just the vaguest hint of cherry on the nose, slight dusty peach as well. Medium bodied, bright acidity that brings in a touch of age. Lovely funk, a bit of sweetness. Finishes out with lingering funk and cheesiness. Lovely.

On tap at Ebenezer’s a little 5 gal keg off to the side. A big thanks to Chris for hooking me up with this glass. Pours out a hazy golden/copper topped with a small white head. Aroma was very nice lots of cherries, funk, wood, and some sweetness. Taste was as the aroma with cherries, and a little Brett.
