3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
37.5cl bottle at Nacht van de Grote Dorst 2016 in Itterbeek (22 IV 2016), shared with a friend. Pale lipstick red coloured American geuze with very sharp sour notes coming from the raspberries. I’m fond on this acidity, overwhelming the brett features, even resembling lingering vinegar notes. The fruity flavours make me think of red currant berries too. Just lovely. Sour, but a fair quencher.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
375 ml bottle @ Nacht van de Grote Dorst 2016. Unclear, red body with a small pink head. Strange to see how the Rasberry version becomes much more deep red than the kriek version side by side, normally its opposite but the aroma confirms it’s the correct label. Anyway, a fine raspberry aroma with relatively mild funk, Brett and wood. Same goes for the flavor, the raspberries is a bit in the background even if the the Brett, funk and wood is rather mild presented. Not too acidic either, some lacto acidity and sour fruit/berries more than vinegar here. Very easy drinkable, fine balance and balanced body with a decent aftertaste. Slightly unusually for the style in a good way. Interesting.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pink grapefruit color with big white head. Aroma is raspberries, fresh-funky. Taste is raspberry, lacto, yoghurt, so fruity. Dry and sour. A bit overcarbonated. Could be a masterpiece if it weren’t for the high carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2015 vintage. 375 ml bottle from the brewery. Deep red / Crimson in color. Aroma is funky lambic yeast, raspberries and sour oak.
Raspberries are not my favorite fruit and by no means are lambic’s something I drink on a regular basis. That being said this is still real drinkable. Sharp acidic notes that are mildly balanced by the berries. Lasting lingering tannic oak. Maybe I should have held on to this bottle a bit longer, not sure if it would help it overall.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark cherry red/dark rosé wine color with bright red edges and a half finger pinkish-white head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind.
Intense aroma that bursting with juicy, jammy raspberries, a ton of earthy oak and lots of lactic funk. Very authentic smelling like a true lambic with very prominent barnyard, horseblanket character. The strong lactic funk and acetic acid is countered by luscious raspberry and other vinous fruit. Decent oak presence but the berries really stand out. So much so you can even pick up the earthiness of the seeds. Smells great.
Full bodied with a tart, puckering mouthfeel countered by barnyard and lactic funk and a strong juicy raspberry flavor. Lots of oak and funky bugs along with some cobweb and subtle lactic cheesiness. Dry toasted oak, musty funk and subtle lactic presence followed by jammy raspberry sweetness. Fruit still dominant but not overly sweet. Lots of raspberry flavor countering the tart funk and dry oak. Sour and tart but not harsh or acidic at all. Really well balanced and incredibly drinkable. Very authentic without harsh acidity or acetic vinegar. Drops off a bit in the finish which is slightly mineral-y. Surprised about the strong funk and oak character but they elevate this beer to another level. The best Coolship beer I’ve had yet.
