An American legit gueuze, wtf? Tart lemony grassy, lightly crisp maltiness. Another solidly above-average Allagash sour.

375 ml bottle @ Nacht van de Grote Dorst 2016. Unclear, pale golden body with a rather small white head. Aroma is tart, funky, acidic, lemon and some wood. Pretty classic but less pronounced than a small bunch of Belgium Geuze that’s present at the table. Flavor is also a bit milder than the Belgium samples, but very refined and smooth. It’s the real deal, but still a rather different experience. Mild acidity, smooth fruit, wood, mild funk, balanced acidity. Very nice, glad to finally have the opportunity to taste one of the most authentic lambic based brew outside Belgium.

Hazy yellow color with white head. Aroma is sour, lacto, wood. Taste is sour lacto, barrel, some booze. High carbonation. Sourer than most Lambics. Good, but not excellent.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Amit. 2015 bottle. Cloudy shiny yellow. Great aroma of barnyard, cobwebs, sweat, oak, fresh fruits, light vinegar note. Sour flavor, dry, fresh, funky, fruity, oaky, kinda lemony. Medium-bodied. Great stuff, feels authentic.

Had the privilege to drink this back to back with 3 Fonteinen Oude Gouze. This was a bit more muscular, woodier, especially right out of the bottle, but settled in to a nice tart lemon-lime experience.

Notes, from many bottles on many occasions. This is a heck of a lambic that stands right there with the best that come out of Belgium. It’s a full-on celebration of funk and wild yeast -- sour with barnyard funk, leather, musty smell, and some citrus flavor and biscuity malt. Major respect to Allagash for keeping the traditional methods going. I can’t get enough of this beer.

Sampled from bottle thanks to kermis. Hazy yellow color, small white head. Smell and taste dusty, dry, lemony and sourish with some tart fruitpeel. Decent body and carbonation. Decent.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is dry yeast, sugar, acid. The flavour is moderate sour with a crisp fresh sharp acid citrus doughy yeast palate. Light bodied with lively carbonation.
