Huge thanks to Leo. Wow, this shit smells wonderful. Almonds, vanilla and rice, in the best acceptation possible. Round and warm, inviting. The last glass develop a little ethylic touch. Remains very elegant. Forget to mention that is golden and very clear. The flavour is sweet, with a quite dry end.

Rate #280. 750 ml bottle. Bottled: April 2010, 690 cases. Poured an almost opaque faded gold/straw with a very firm off-white head. Fair amount of sediment in my glass. Aroma: sour-ish fruits, bourbon saturated wood, maybe vanilla, Belgian yeast, hops. Taste: Sour fruits, lemon zest, funk/barnyard, strong bourbon saturated wood, maybe vanilla, understated hop profile. Medium but full body, loaded with flavors and very balanced. Overall: unique is an understatement... this is a Bourbon Barrel Aged Triple, and it does have that, but it also had this Saison edge to it. Very complex. I really enjoyed this but I bet 2 or 3 years sitting in a cool cellar would make this even better.

Bottle. Pours cloudy apricot with white head. Nose and taste of honey, toffee, barrel, lemongrass and yeast. Lost of alcohol in the finish.

On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Pours a bright, hazy yellow with a pillowy white head and tons of lacing. The aroma is caramel, vanilla, orange and lemon citrus notes, cloves and other spices. The flavor is very bitter, but balanced well with malts and mellowed with bourbon flavors. The palate is heavy and thick, but very smooth with only a slight bitter finish. Overall, an excellent beer. A simple idea executed perfectly.

Looks like a triple. Hazy yellow with a nice white head. Vanilla and stone fruits on the nose. Some banana as well. With lots of bourbon as well. Flavour is great ! classic triple Flavour with tons of bourbon and wood. Very spicy in the finish. This is the most unique barrel aged beer i have ever had. It is great!

Bottle, withmany thanks to Curly. Pours hazy golden yellow, thin yet persistent white head, spotty lacing. Nose is light bourbon, with traces of banana, confectionary, spice, white pepper, lemon drops, fresh cream, vanilla, smells like a bourbon/lemon meringue pie. It smells like baked goods and brown liquor even more strongly than my grandmother!!! Bourbon comes out to play much more strongly on the palate, with the citrus and spice still present, but rather behind the vanilla/toast/corn whiskey notes. Nice balance between citrus/candy sweetness, and bourbon sourness. Well balanced, but I feel the prettier floral/confectionary notes are as masked by the bourbon in the mouth as they are accentuated by the borubin in the nose. A double-edged sword. Still a very nice beer. I’ve had a few barrel-aged Tripels, but those were soured by and large. This an interesting beer, perhaps not one I’d pay $20 for again, but very pretty, and yet with the bourbon very masculine. This beer walks a razors edge, and is generally succesful at it. Good show, Allagash!

Hazed apple juice color with a big fluffy white head that settles down pretty quickly. The aroma takes a bit more time to grasp. I initially get some fruity aspects from orange and lemon peel, with a sugared candy (cherry?) backing. Eventually as I warm up to the beer I get sweet vanilla bean from the bourbon barrels peaking through. This is a peculiar beer that takes some time understanding. Like the smell, the taste first offers a sweet tangy flavor, kind of syrupy. I am wondering where the Bourbon is. Then about half way through as the beer warms up, the Bourbon comes out of no where and dominates the palate. With a complexity of different flavors coming into play, Curieux feels like a delicate sipper, very warming as bourbon and vanilla give rise. I really enjoy the woody essence the barrels give off to interplay with the malts and spicy yeast flavor.

750 ML bottle. Pours a very nice looking hazy gold with soapy white head. Aroma has nice fruit esters, barnyard, light bourbon. Flavor has a light sweetness, fruit, barnyard, yeast, vanilla, bourbon and oak, woody finish. Mouth feel is medium body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, a very pleasant brew and the bourbon notes blend in nicely! Good Stuff!
