On tap at the Trappist in Oakland. It pours a bright orange/yellow with a nice white head. The aroma is soaked in bourbon with some tropical fruitiness and a hint of yeasty spice. The flavor is again overpowered by the bourbon unfortunately. Lots of sweet caramel, vanilla, wood and some hints of tropical fruits and hops, but its so cloyingly sweet its hard to notice much besides the alcoholic bourbon influence. It’s nice if you like that kind of thing though. Definitely a different experience.

Tap at Stout in Hollywood. Lose is spicy and clean with some bourobn. Lots of bourbon in the flavour profile but eventually it melds well with a solid tripel base. Very smooth and lovely sipping. Quality.

750 ml bottle. Pours a very hazy, dark orange color and topped with a small off white head of foam. The aroma shows notes of bananas, nut, caramel, bourbon, honey, and some bready yeast. The flavor follows with the sweet bananas, honey, citrus fruit, and bready yeast blended nice with the oak and sour mash bourbon. There is a touch of nuts, and the vanilla from the oak really smooths things out. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation that leads to a sweet, warming finish. This is a really nice take on the style, which is normally pretty boring. Good beer.

On tap @ Capones. Rich golden color with a small but pillowy white head. Aroma is sweet, with lots of lemon, orange zest, a hint of spice, smooth oak, and booze. Flavor is very similar. A peppery sort of lemon like a typical tripel, but without the cloying sweetness a lot of them bring. The oak aging really adds a whole new dimension to this beer. The oak and bourbon meld wonderfully with the existing beer flavors. The finish is a touch boozy, but as a regular bourbon drinker, it hits all the right buttons. Awesome!

Pours a cloudy yellow. Very bubbly but the head doesn’t stick around. Aroma is yeasty and fruity and woody. Taste is everything at once -- sweetness, tart fruit (orange maybe), and with a strong alcohol kick at the end. Very nice -- not as fruity as a "normal" trippel, maybe more yeasty/bready/malty. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t taste the bourbon that much.

Everything I love in a beer in one bottle. The bourbon character really gives this brew a push over the top. And the alcohol content doesn’t hurt either. Just an altogether satisfying experience. And so rich that you fell like you’ve eaten a meal.

Straw-blond, silky hopped head. Strong bourbon-woodsy nose--love it. Oaked notes with restrained vanillins as well. Excellent woody quality. The body is likewise woodsy with the presence of oak and subdued vanillins. Well-stated, artfully crated ale. The disparate parts meld together wonderfully and in just the right proportions.

Bottle. Light gold pour, thin white head. Aroma of bourbon, cereals, vodka-like alcohol. Taste is quite woody, lots of bourbon and not much else. Palate is ok. I was expecting much more from this.
