Cloudy yellow. Nice white head. Smelly like a pale lager aged in sherry barrels. Sweet and thick malty taste that’s quite rich. Wooden finish and burn on the back of the throat.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s "Has anyone seen my stool?" tasting.
Clean yellow gold with a thin white head. Full on bourbon and booze all round. Not something I would usually go for by any means but what little beery character there was poking through the booze and coconut was pretty decent. Light bitterness initially that is swiftly assassinated to death by a truck load of sweet warming alcohol. Sweet woody finish. As I was drinking this, a piece of ceiling maybe 9 foot by 6 foot fell down on the tasting. The noise was incredible and the entire room was filled with a thick dust cloud. As the dust settled, with no one daring to move yet, there appears Jan Fonefan like a Phoenix from the flames with one hand covering his glass and the other covering this bottle. Amazing composure. Not one glass nor one bottle was broken. There were a few cuts and bruises but generally it was a miracle that there were no serious injuries.

Very cloudy, yellow, good head. Aroma of sweet, wood, and sourness. Taste of dark spices with a recognizable taste of wood aging. Finish has hints of citrus and tannins.

On draught @ Tap in Midtown. Pale golden pour, almost opaque though. Small white head. Aroma was candi sugar sweetness, some earthy notes, yeast and a subtle hint of bourbon. Nice clean flavors throughout. Not as yeasty as I thought it would be. Rich malt with a big bourbon presence in the finish, smooth as silk. This is one of the most original triples I have tasted, very nice.

Cloudy orange-gold with a small foamy head. This one has a mild, sweetish aroma, with fruit, yeast, orange, and icing sugar. A little different for the style. There is too much booze in the flavour, but the orange, banana bread, and barrel are all good. Some hops at the end. I suspect that the booze is cutting into the subtleties of this one. Some age would help.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2011 Pours a cloudy light yellow and smells of whiskey, vanilla and flowers. Complex and inviting. Very soft carbonation carries the sweet malty backbone. Notes of cotton candy show, but are quickly overpowered by whiskey. A bit of pineapple and peaches in there as well. Leaves behind a heavy white lacing, alcohol burn, and fuzzy headed joy.

Hmm. Had this at the beer tasting in Boston this summer and I recall it being better than it is now. Pours with a large, foamy, frothy, cream colored head, that settles down to just a little cover quickly and no lace. Color is a slightly hazy amber with no bubble trails. Aroma is yeast, bread dough, and heavy caramel. Flavor is not as complex: mostly sweet, a little bubblegum, and some tang from carbonic acid. Body is decent and carbonation is very good for this beer. Finish is like flavor with the tang lasting a while and some alcohol at the end.
