Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Dec 21, 2007 A cloudy honey-amber golden with a nice thick head. Aroma is fruity and malty with strong banana and lemon tones. The rich wheaty flavor fairly fills the mouth, and the strong hoppy bitter undertone gives it a nice kick! It goes down smoothly with a strong alcohol bite that is more like hard liquor than beer. slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 18, 2007 Updated: Jan 30, 20082007 Bottle. Strong acidic yeast nose. Peach, apricot, orange. Cloudy pale orange with a bubbly white head that clings nicely to the glass. Flavor is deep and complex. Opens sweet, malty, lots of caramel and toffee. The middle and finish are an interplay between Belgian blonde-like yeast notes of honey blossom, oranges, and spice with the aformentioned flavors. Finishes sweet with notes of both brandy and fruit. Palate is thick, heavy, and smooth. I expect that this will develop nicely over time. beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Dec 14, 2007 750 ML Bottle-January 2007. I’m not usually a fan of oak aged beers, had several other oak aged Allagash brews I traded w/snojerk321 for some Alesmith’s but I wanted to try one. Beer poured a light yellow color w/a decent white head & good lacing. Faint sweet aroma. Not as overpowering a some, but that Jim Beam hits you in the face right away; no hiding that, this thing is hot! Some traces of pine & lemon, pretty clean taste actually. Not one to drink fast, but a nice change of pace, after dinner sipper. Long finish; alcohol is quite evedent! dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Dec 5, 2007 Bottled in 11/06. Cloudy dark yellow / light orange with a bubbly white head. Light citrus and pine aroma. Crisp, clean taste of pine, sweet lemon, hops. Bourbon notes linger nicely. Excellent tripel. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 3, 2007 draft @ bigwood fest - yazy yellow big head foaming out of the snifter; thick lemon and yeast aromas with hint of bourbon; flavors are full and earthy with slight sweetness; perfect and silky smooth going down pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Dec 3, 2007 January 2007. I like tripels more and more, but this one really takes the cake... although I do wish we split this bottle more than 3 ways, I grew weary of it by the end. Pours a rich macro gold with a big rocky head. Big ass sweetness. Round malt with a slightly grapey Belgian flavor (Allagash house yeast strain?). Oaky vanilla in the mix for sure. Bourbon is subtle and complementary to the tripelness, particularly lending some caramel notes. Subdued carbonation in a relatively thin but not watery beer. Big sweet oaky beer over a lightly caramelly sweet malty tripel with that vinous twinge. Very tannic and oaky with small cherry. Caramel seems to really pop out of the tripel by bourbon barrel interaction... lovely! SSSteve (2047), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 2, 2007 bottled in 9/07. cloudy gold with a large white head. flavors of buttery popcorn, lemon, yeast, hops. pretty boozy. full bodied. nice twist on a tripel. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 1, 2007 Old rating off a pile of forgotten notes. Pours hazy gold Full body, active carbonation. Lightly sweet fruit & spice aroma and taste. Well rounded.
