Allagash Curieux

Bottle - Batch 512 from January 2007 A wonderful light bodied tripel with just a hint of vanilla and bourbon. When chilled the initial sip is clean and refreshing as a tripel should be. On the finish you get that slight touch of vanilla. As the beer warms the vanilla and bourbon play a bigger role but never get out of balance with a malt profile. Hops are constrained just to enough fairly neutral bittering hops (perhaps Saaz) to balance the malt. The head was a beautiful soft white cloud that stayed with the beer till the last sip. Allagash clearly has it’s yeast under control unlike many other American breweries that let their Belgian beers go banana/bubblegum/clove. Additionally they did an amazing job of adding the bourbon barrel character as a layer. Other craft brewers end up with beers that taste like a poorly made Jack and Coke. Overall an excellent beer that I’ll be returning to for Thanksgiving dinner.

Københavnske Øldage 07. Golden with aromatic notes of bourbon, oak and sweetness. The flavour has clear notes of bourbon, oak, sweetness, vanilla and a light citrussy bitterness. It’s a very voluminous beer - a bit too much for me... 2122

bottle shared with theReverend and gunsho. clear golden with a nice lasting white head that leaves good lacing. fantastic very complex aroma. earthy caramel pear whited grape blackberries and blueberries. bourbon character is there but lighter than expected. yeast adds a light bready feel. the way i described the aroma doesnt do it justice. it sounds like a mess....but it is amazing. sweet caramel toffee bourbon flavor with light herb notes. spicy dry finish with some warm alcohol. sparkling carbonation. medium body. very interesting beer. fantastic.

Bottle at Mondiale ’07 Carbonation is very soft. lots of subtle fruit aromas and flavours. Also quite a bit of spice in the flavour, the oak really comes through, the aging really added another dimension to the beer, but i’m not sure i’m a big fan of this new dimension Overall a very nice tripel with a nice dry bitter finish.

Bu au Mondial 07. Blonde blanchie peu brumeuse, pas de collet. Arome de blé agrumeuse zesté. Goût de malte crèmeuse et épicé, finission réchaufante.

Robe blonde paille voilée surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui s’estompe. Arômes de chêne. Saveurs de sucre, de chêne, de malt caramélisé, de blé et de levures.

Bottle. Small white lastiing head. Clear thin lasting amber body. Fruity aroma with notes of lemon. Porwerful dry barley malt flavor with peaches and a good deal of bitterness Low carbonation. Long dry bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Amberish colour. Malty and fruity aroma with wood and alcohol. The flavour is rather soft, sweet and alcoholic with a good maltiness, fruits, wood and yeast. Una chella buenísima!
