sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 26, 2006 Bottle: Golden color with some floaties and a small white head. Aroma has some yeast and fruitiness, the oak and bourbon didn’t come through untill it had warmed to near room temperature. Flavor was a little tart, there was some oak but other than a dry finish I didn’t pick up on much of a barrel character, it was sedated in comparison to other beers that really over do it. luvcasks (178), USA Mar 20, 2006 Clear gold color with a puffy quickly diminishing white head. The nose is sweet with apple cider, yeast, oaky bourbon notes. The flavor is tart, nearly sour along with a delicate amount of bourbon and a satisfying dry finish. This is my first bourbon barrel aged beer. Much to my surprise I love the unique characters... The mouthfeel is sweet and rich and the finish goes on an on..... BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Mar 20, 2006 2004 Version: Clear gold color with a puffy quickly diminishing white head. The nose is sweet with apple cider, yeast, vegetal parsley and oaky bourbon notes. The flavor is tart, nearly sour along with a syrupy amount of bourbon and a very dry finish. The first bourbon aged triple I had was repulsive, I thought it was the worst pairing ever. This comes across very nice actually. Used a 1/2 cup in a garlic shrimp recipe and it rocked too. The mouthfeel is sweet and rich and the finish is long but good. Some honey and other various belgian qualities mingle in the boozy oak barrels. Golden coloured and slightly hoppy. Very strong in alcohol. Crisp on the palate with some whisky flavour in the finish. hokiebeerguy (21), USA Mar 8, 2006 A pale hazy golden color, with a strong aroma of bourbon, and a taste of bourbon that is extremely strong, yet sweeten by the ale. Interesting beer, and definitely for those who love bourbon RooftopRogue (423), Champaign, Illinois, USA Mar 7, 2006 This beer introduces itself with a sour citric acid and yeast aroma. It is golden in color and only has a glaze of a head. This beer fills the mouth with the hearty taste of oak. The finish is bitter sweet with the taste of alcohol sliding in at the last moment. Ungstrup (14762), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 6, 2006 An unclear orange beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of bourbon as well as light light dusty hoppy notes. The flavor is very sweet with light notes of bourbon and wood, as well as a light alcohol burn. beastiefan2k (1592), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Mar 3, 2006 Updated: Jan 9, 2009Bottling - July 2005, Case Bottle # - 390. Bought December 2005. Fridged until March 3. Drank in a Chimay Goblet. Poured with a small head, a good amount of carbonation, vortex in the Goblet. Color is light, murky, honey. Aroma is floral, mainly citrusy but not zingy. The smell is not too strong but present. Medium body and the taste is very balanced. A lot of the Belgian flavor is present but subdued because of the bourbon. However, the bourbon is felt most at the finish. You can feel it in your throat for many minutes after the sip. I like this beer because it is balanced, neither the bourbon or Belgian part fully take over but both are definitely there. The 11% is very well hidden and it is light for such a high content beer. 7/4/8/4/16.
Re-rate: on tap at the 4th Ave Pub, I would think whatever the latest batch is. Aroma is sweet Belgian dough. Taste is thick sweet alcohol with complementary sweet Belgian aspects. 8/4/8/16.
