Draft at Capones. Hazy orange body with thin head. Aroma is light citrus oranges, and yeast. Flavor has a crisp orange feel to it, lightly sweet, light wood and alcohol burn and a little earthy. Good stuff.

Big Bottle from my secret santa. Thanks! Pours a beautiful blond with a half-inch white head and lacing. Aroma is very subtle- a little fruity, oaky, and light bourbon. Flavors are a bit more pronounced than the nose. Cherries, more bourbon, very sweet and smooth. A great adaptation of their excellent triple. Nummy Num delight.

Bottling - July 2005, Case Bottle # - 390. Bought December 2005. Fridged until March 3. Drank in a Chimay Goblet. Poured with a small head, a good amount of carbonation, vortex in the Goblet. Color is light, murky, honey. Aroma is floral, mainly citrusy but not zingy. The smell is not too strong but present. Medium body and the taste is very balanced. A lot of the Belgian flavor is present but subdued because of the bourbon. However, the bourbon is felt most at the finish. You can feel it in your throat for many minutes after the sip. I like this beer because it is balanced, neither the bourbon or Belgian part fully take over but both are definitely there. The 11% is very well hidden and it is light for such a high content beer. 7/4/8/4/16.

Re-rate: on tap at the 4th Ave Pub, I would think whatever the latest batch is. Aroma is sweet Belgian dough. Taste is thick sweet alcohol with complementary sweet Belgian aspects. 8/4/8/16.

750ml bottle Bottle 5/07 11% ABV 11/3/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours a hazy yellowish golden with a small white head. Aroma of bourbon, belgian yeast, brett, and slight vanilla. Taste of bourbon, vanilla, yeast, and alcohol. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and quite tasty. Well done.

[July 2005 edition] Hazy yellowy orange with a foamy head that dissipates to a fine, white lace. The aroma, surprisingly, was lemony wheat malty with a buttery Belgianish character and corriander(?) note. Spicy and alcoholic flavour that is nicely rounded out by a maltiness that is not too sweet, as this type of beer often is. The bourbon comes in late in the taste and is not dominating at all. Some anonymous hops in there as well Everything is in very good balance, with no particular flavour dominating and a smooth finish. Medium body and a little warming with moderate carbonation. Excellent.

From a 750ml. caged cork brown bottle with pouring instructions on the lower right side of the front label and bottling date, December ’04, cases bottled, 340 and 11% ABV info in the center of front label. Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy golden hued orange with a foamy white head that settled into a fizzy, bubbly lacing, good carbonation. Had a tropical fruity and woody nose with whiffs of sweet spicy alcohol. A crisp, smooth medium bodied mouth feel, above average drinkability. Sweet tropical sour fruity with a bourbon woody character, delightfully light in it’s bourbon barrel flavor, a mild spicy hop bitterness, a subtle alcoholic warmth in the palate and a dry, sharp tropical fruity finish. This is, in my opinion, a great Tripel from Allagash, tasty and biting, a complete pleasure to drink.

Poured quite pretty and had a great head. Aroma was inviting and sweet. But then on first sip, that same sweetness raises it’s ugly head. WAY too sweet. This definitely will benefit from some aging. It NEEDS to be aged. Much to one dimensional at this point, but has great potential.

again, another surprise from superdave70... 2008 batch.

pours an orange shade of orange brown (yup, that’s what the notes say. i MAY have been a little bit d-runk at the time.) with a whitish head and slight spots of lacing. the aroma is intoxicating... lots of mellowed bourbon with notes of vanilla, orange, caramel, peppercorns, spicy wood and a touch of smoke. the flavor profile contains a tart sourish funky barrel note with a ton of vanilla, tannic woody notes, caramel, light yeast and a spicy finish. medium body with a smooth luscious mouth feel.

notes say "this is special. i want to pour this in a gigantic snifter and sit in the hot tub while it snows on top of me." 8/3/8/5/17/4.1
