Getting notebook online. Bottle. Pours a golden color. Smell of oak and bourbon very strong. Flavors of oak and vanilla. A good amount of yeast flavor too. Not too bad!

Pleasant crisp yeasty buttery notes in the aroma. Hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Flavor is spicy Belgian yeast. Smooth.

Bottled 11/2007. Okay, so you take a great tripel and back with a sweet bourbon. Where can you go wrong? Well, in their hands, you can’t. This was a winner. The fruity nature mixes well with the touch of bourbon and the overall sweetness takes on a slightly woody nature.

Sampled out of the big bottle. Full of strong malts and loads of bourbon afternotes. A excellent brew.

Pours hazey apple juice, big white lacing head disappeared in seconds. Sweet hop floral nose, woody, and vanilla. Citric (limes), honey cake. Lots of strawberries. Finish is boozy and warming. A little underwhelming.

duvel tulip / hmm! wow? i’m not sure about this, but i like it. it smells like tropical fruit of a vinous nature, wood, ... hmm. hazy golden yellow body with big white slightly airy head, with fair lacing. yeah, i can taste that bourbon! it’s definitely in the aftertaste, also. with a banana note, and some wood. slighty gooey, biscuity, ... yup--belgian. hmm... you know, it kinda ugh reminds me of rogue’s yellow snow ale. hey, this is good, though.

Bottled January 07, and deliberately aged until January 2008 to drink. Pours a shimmering gold color with a fluffy white head of 3 fingers. The Duvel tulip that houses this beer maintains a foamy cap of head and is marred by dense lacing. Aroma is very yeasty, with a distinct woody hard liquor note and some tropical fruitiness. The bourbon barrel influence on the flavor is unmistakeable. There is a breathtaking oaky vanilla booze bite in the middle of the palate that just melts into a fruity sweetness that finishes pleasantly dry. The warmth in the chest imparted by this beer is trademark whiskey, and it blends surprisingly well with the sweet tripel notes of pear and orange. Mouthfeel is wonderful, with a quite Belgian carbonation and a nice dry finish for such a sweet and rich beer. This beer is a bit hot and you can feel it. The booze really comes out with too much warmth, which makes it harder to drink. Overall this beer is interesting, unique, and delicious. One of Allagash’s best.
