a sip, then WOW.this is ale? are we sure?immediate wood, earth, sweet tripel, and other notes come through followed by that famous whiskey taste.
an amazing beer, one i’m glad i had, would buy again and again.also the only ale my brain ever tried to tell me i needed a chaser. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA May 30, 2005 Aroma of cabernet, oak. Appears orange-pink in color. Flavor is bouron and oak. Palate is effervescent, bubbly, appropriate. Overall, I found this experience to be absolutely sublime. I wish I had been in a position to do a proper rating. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA May 25, 2005 Bottled Feb ’05, 11%abv. Pours hazy golden with thick white lasting head. Plenty of carbonation. Aroma is fresh, grassy, with a slight bit of oak. Flavor, now this is something else. Rich flavors of bourbon and oak with slight vanilla. Very creamy and silky smooth. Very unique and unusual beer. Very good beer. Alcohol is not apparent. I am quite pleased by this one. If I see this one again I will not pass it up. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA May 22, 2005 Bottle 340. Nice sweet and citrus aroma. Pours a lovely full, thick orange/yellow, like good cheddar cheese. Beautiful white head, lots of cabo action. Immediate rush of bourbon that lingers delicately on the tongue, but never overpowers. The mouthfeel is like beautiful lacing around your favortie glass. A wonderful beer, worth every penny of the $16.99 + tax I paid for it at the Whip-In in Austin. If you have a chance to grab one of these, do not hesitate! Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Apr 15, 2007 On tap at Eulogy Belgian Tavern in Philadelphia. this was the BEST beer that we tried and we had a number of amazingly delicious and interesting (all pretty smooth) beers! it was served in a snifter. poured a blood-orange with a medium sized, white-fizz head. lacing followed in the form of very small thing piasleys dancing along the class. smells of strong alcohol and sweet smalts. tastes mostly of bourbon. becomes sweeter and sweeter as you continue to drink it. borders on too sweet. but looking back on it I wrote "Delicious, Delicious, Delicious" and know that the 3 of us fought over who was holding it in their hand as we were rotating/sharing beers and this was the best. try it immediately! yum!
