theisti (1095), Leawood, Kansas, USA May 18, 2008 750 ml bottle courtesy of Indra. December 2004 Vintage. Pour is slightly hazed golden capped with a smallish off white head. Visible carbonation. Aroma of oak, some of the bourbon and some interesting spiciness. Taste is sweet, yeasty and grassy. A lot of oak and bourbon in the finish. Earthiness in the aftertaste. Interesting, but dominated by the oak and barrel. Thanks for sharing this one Eric!
danielcurtis81 (139), San Diego, California, USA Oct 15, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. Pours a golden color. Smell of oak and bourbon very strong. Flavors of oak and vanilla. A good amount of yeast flavor too. Not too bad! mtdshn (163), Moline, Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bomber, bottled 7/2005 and cellared since 10/2005. Poured a translucent honey orange with just a tiny bit of head. Aromas of whiskey, caramel, some heavy bread notes. Mouthfeel is heavy, with yeast and whiskey coming out in the forefront. vyvvy (1756), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours clear orange / amber with a patchy off-white head. The aroma is creamy with spice and a nice blend of tripel malt and bourbon barrel aging. There is also vanilla and significant oak from the barrel aging. Medium smooth body that is slick with mildly sharp carbonation. The flavor starts smooth with lots of vanilla, oak, some bourbon, phenolic spice and some lush tripel malt. The finish has more tripel malt, but the sweetness is offset by the dryness of oak, lots of spice and some abv, but it is mild tasting considering it is 11%. This is quite well done. Suds_McDuff (1021), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston,TX, Texas, USA Sep 28, 2008 time for a party, a fresh bottle of barrel aged trippel, bought at the downtown specs ... . bottled on June 8th 2008 ... pours a gold colour, has a ring of small bubbles, average lacing ... is somewhat mead like i tell ya what ... is a tasty beverage, thank you.. smith4498 (388), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 26, 2008 January 2007 vintage. Pours hazy golden orange with minimal white head. The smell of boubon dominates. There is also a strong aroma of bready Belgian yeast. Flavors of bourbon, yeast, vanilla and oak. There is definately a tripel hinding somewhere underneath all that bourbon. Medium body with lively carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. It’s a good beer, but the bourbon is just too overpowering for my tastes.
