Commercial Description:
Allagash Dubbel Reserve boasts a dark malty taste. The finish is dry with subtle hints of chocolate and nuts. With time, Allagash Dubbel Reserve will mature in the bottle and acquire distinctive port and sherry characteristics.

Ruby red with a thin white head on it. Has a strong tangy, earthy, rotten fruit flavor that turns me off a bit. A decent beer but doesn’t stand up to many other Dubbels out there.

12 oz bottle from a shaker. Purchased under the alternate name, Allagash Dubbel Ale. Pours hazy amber with only a slight, tan head. Nice spice/malt aroma. Tastes strongly of the dark malts, a little bitter note. The aftertaste is dry with chocolate as advertised. I picked up a random metallic note though. I was a little disappointed.

Amber pour with foamy tan head. Aroma is light brown sugar, and bread. Flavor is sweet malty start with a metallic finish. Carbonation and body are good. Third time I’ve had this beer first time I’ve tasted the metallic. Liked everything about it except the finish.

Pours a dark brownish red, hazy and cloudy. The aroma is fruity and malty. Is incredibly smooth with a nice long aftertaste .

28th October 2008. Hazy brown beer with a thick creamy head. A little sourness rapidly followed by a dry spicyness which the creamy head offsets well. A little sour malt in the finish which is a bit too dry. Not bad but something is missing.

POurs a dark amber with a large honey hued head, nice lacing. Aroma was of hops, some citrus and caramel. First sip is sweet which tasted faintly of raisins and oranges. Finishes dry with a nice taste of hops and a bit of alcohol heat.

Bottle. Dark and opaque amber pour with a thin head. Aroma consists of caramel, candi sugar and dark fruits. Tastes very sweet, slightly sour, accompanied by a slightly bitter finish.

Batch 58. Poured into an Allagash goblet. Appearance is brown with a rich, creamy head. Smell is of malt and dark fruits. This beer tastes like it smells, with a slight hop bitterness but mainly raisins and plums. The beer was very carbonated. This is what I am looking for in a Belgian Dubbel.
