I’m getting lots of malt. Some cherry. Sweetness. Even a bit of chocolate. "Should I open another?" I asked the wife. "Is it a bomber?" she asked. "Yes." "Then do it." And so this was opened.

Pours a murky brown typical of the style with very little head (surprising considering the amount of pressure the Reserve is under). Aroma has some belgian funk, and definitely some candi sugar, but it is also apparent that this is not your traditional Dubbel. Very delicious with lots of chocolate and bubbliness. Finishes surprisingly dry, especially for the style. Not at all unenjoyable. Different, not what I was expecting, but awesome. I want to find another bottle of this to lay down and see how much better it is in a few years.

750 ml bottle purchased from Spirits Red Bank. Pours a super deep dark mocha brown with small bubbly carbonation clinging to the side of my Allagash glass and a super large foamy creamy super light beige head. Aroma is nice and complex with lots of yeasty goodness, dark fruit(raisin, prunes), very light alochol which is only apparent towards the middle of my glass, some brown bread and very light brown sugar. Body is light and sightly watery, the carbonation does not make itself known untill you swallow and then it comes on with average strength. The flavor is much weaker then the aroma leads one to believe. Lots of initial chocolate, followed up with some brown bread and a little bit of sourness as well. If your going for a bottle of Allagash grab the Triple, it’s a great beer and still available at a great price.

I had this as part of my pick six at my local shop. It poured a darker, almost red color, with a fluffy head. I think this beer was spot on as far as carbonation, as well as very well balanced. The flavor could have been a bit more pronounced, but overall, I thought this beer was great. Great first impression from Allagash. Cheers!

This is a nice American version of a double, although definitely not as complex as the Belgians. The flavor is a mix of prunes and figs. Hearty and filling.

12 oz bottle. Poured clear coppery-iced tea brown with a short, creamy, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up dry-roasted cocoa and light raisins over dry fruity yeast and a little alcohol warmth deeper down. The flavor was well-balanced with darker fruits, chocolate, and aged caramel at the core paired with some notes of leather and a dark, spicy yeast.. just a few fusel notes on the back detracted a bit. Medium-bodied with emphasis on a nice yeast strain.. almost a sherry feel right at the end (with the fruit and some booze). Tasty brew!

Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma of malts and dark fruit. Some alcohol on the nose. Flavor is typical of a dubbel, with some added roasted malt flavor. Good mouthfeel. Decent dubbel.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown with an orange tint. Almost no head, but a bit of lace. Aroma: rich malt, chocolate and caramel, grains, dark fruit, Rich malty flavor, dry for a dubbel, good roasted action. Belgian yeast, dark fruits. Nice balance. Touch of citrus. A very good, somewhat stout-like dubbel. Well done. Quite complex. Doesn’t have that big yeasty Belgian taste, and probably not really sweet enough. Clean, slightly fruity finish.
