Dark, fruity malt aroma with an earthy/grainy quality partnered with mild spices. Deep amber pour with a 1/4" foamy head and great lacing. Hearty with a complex finish that leaves this beer clean and drinkable. Solid flavors of figs, raisins, and musty yeast. Some toasted malt and toffee was also noticed along with a bit of coffee and licorice. Not overly complex for it’s style, a solid offering. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 11, 2008 75cl bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle Pours out a hazy mahogany topped with a nice sand head. Aroma of yeast, some spice and a little sweetness. Tast the yeast along with some clove and a few other spices. Not bad badbeer (432), Iowa, USA Jul 5, 2008 Poured a muddy dark brown color with a white-ish head with good retention. Smell was spicey with a bit of clove, seemed different. Light taste of brown sugar and spice, and a little clove, just seemed bland. Light bodied, high carbonation. Really light and dry on the tongue, I was looking forward to trying this, just a little let down. I may try it again sometime to see if I was missing something, but I really didn’t care for this.
