Zaprozdower (41), Boone, North Carolina, USA Mar 19, 2008 Pours very dark for a dubbel and is very syrupy. As I poured it, I was disappointed with the aroma...was too much like an american lager. Other than that, good complex belgian ale flavors (a bit on the light side). scraff (1920), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 19, 2008 Brown, thin creamy white head. Toasty plum and fig aromas lay on notes of raisin bread. Spicy hop nose surfaces at room temperature. Flavor follows suit with dark fruit and earthiness rounding to a light hop finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, dark fruity finish. Good brew, but certainly not top of the line Allagash… Prcaus (159), New Jersey, USA Mar 17, 2008 Draft~ Tria, Philadelphia, PA- dark brown coloring, mid level head, mild scents of chocolates, some caramel’s. Not as enjoyable as the Trippel in my opinion, but still nicely flavorful. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Mar 17, 2008 Batch 70. Not too impressed. Large, creamy, light-brown head. Opaque dark brown body. Head has good retention and some lacing. Aroma is a bit weeek, but has floral and yeasty notes with a bit of brown sugar. Taste is pretty salty and sour with a spicy note at the end. Not the easiest thing to drink as it felt dry and fizzy (those combined with the spiciness felt like it was burning my tongue). acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 15, 2008 Philly beer week paired with cheese at Tria, brown hue with tan frothy head, sweet brown sugar smell, pairing was good medium hard cheese (don’t remeber the type and chocolate fig spread,) dubbel had hints of chocolate and nut, better than average dubbel. faroeviking (6016), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Mar 2, 2008 Bottled. Bit pale brown colour with a medium mostly diminishing beige head. Bit sweet well roasty yeasty aroma. Rather thin mouthfeel. Sweet softly roasty caramel and malty flavour with some bitter hops. santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 1, 2008 2006. Pours a deep brown with a rich, tan head. The aroma is intensely complex, with notes of chocolate, port, caramel, mint, toffee, plums and dates. The taste is fantastic, with huge dark fruit notes, combined with sweet chocolate and caramel, with a strong, dry, grainy finish. A great, authentic tasting Dubbel that ages like a champ. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Feb 29, 2008 Pours a dark brown with maroon hues, and a light beige head. Smells of some dark fruits, dark syrupy malts, and some caramel as well, although more on the mild side. The favor is more on the lighter side of Belgian dark brews. Some definite dark fruits, but it wasnt on the fruity side, more dark malts and caramel flavors. This is an average dubbel, not their best work but certainly drinkable.
