chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 20, 2009 Dark brown pour with tan head. Caramel in aroma with some spices. Yeasty in flavor with some hints of chocolate. Smooth finish. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 18, 2009 Clear burnt umber with a large tan lace maker of a head. Aroma of spice, Belgian yeast, brown sugar and grains, all pretty faint though. Taste of brown sugar, mild fruit and burnt malts. Body seems a bit thin. Smooth and uninspiring, a let down since I do like the style. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Jun 18, 2009 Bottle, with Alaskanwarren. Thanks for sharing this one Brian! Ruddy brown, tan head. Woody toasted caramel aroma, very nice peppery esters, oyster brine. Warm brown bread flavor with pinch of cocoa powder. Perfectly dry and delicate finish. A dubbel that feels like it comes from a deep understanding and appreciation of the real Belgian roots. Very, very nice. BroSpud (585), , Massachusetts, USA Jun 17, 2009 12oz screwtop. Labeled as Dubbel Ale. Pretty good example of the style. Pours dark brown with a big head. Yeasty, nutty, sweet. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA May 28, 2009 12 ounce bottle in Westmalle glass. Muddy dark brown with ring and a little lace. Toasted caramel brown sugar aroma with dark fruit yeast and a little alcohol. Toasted brown sugar with fruit and maple syrup with mild tang and medium spicy finishing bitterness. Medium body and decent mouthfeel. One of my least favorite styles. And there are better ones. But still decent enough. Maybe I imagine it, but I think this is probably better out of a 750. zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA May 25, 2009 Enjoyable, some fruity notes, mostly non-citrus. Nothing terribly special but nice for something that is very available. lowgun1212 (75), Montclair, New Jersey, USA May 20, 2009 dk brown with big rocky head. s - strong sweet malt, pepper and farmy. t - slightly dilute. apple. toffee. p -soft but seltzery
