Comes out of the tap an opaque light chocolaty brown with a fairly thick, pale tan head. Rich, smoky, malty aroma has a yeasty undertone, and invites a taste. Flavor is malty with hints of cinnamon, cloves, yeast and caramel - very toothsome. Texture is very smooth and leaves behind a nice tingle.

Poured from a 750ml, batch 71. Dark brown pour with a big tan head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, dark sugar, mollasses, some fruit. Flavor is dark fruit and belgian spices. Some chocolate, and plums. Nice thick mouthfeel with lingering finish. Pretty good dubbel.

Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle (Batch #68) and served in a tulip. This dubbel poured a dirty, caramel/copper brown with a short-lived head of tan foam that settled into a lasting ring. Decent lacing. The aroma included dark candi sugar, raisins, caramel, along with a faint note of chocolate. The flavor contained dark fruit skins, candi sugar, light chocolate, and also a bit of alcohol in the finish. Everything about the flavor seems to be muted. Just not as vibrant as I was hoping for. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a moderate amount of crisp carbonation. Definately not a bad representation of the style, but not my favorite.

Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle. Initial appearance is characteristically dark, with an off-white head, nicely bolstered from a generous level of carbonation. The flavor is full on the palate; one of dark fruits, burnt raisons, and a slight note of alcohol on the back end. An extremely well-crafted and enjoyable example of a classic style.

Pours a deep brown color with a small tan head. Nice tan lacing lasts throughout. Heavily carbonated. Aroma is of malt, caramel, grass, sugar, and yeast. The beer is way too malty for a dubbel. Taste is of heavy malt, caramel, spice, yeast, grass, and raisins. Alcohol presence is very noticeable. Lingering grassy taste. Far too malty, and too much earthiness in the taste. Not very good in my opinion.

Very dark deep copper brown, cloudy. Aroma sweet, slightly spiced. Sweet malty flavor, slightly nutty, candy sugar (but only a little). Dark fruit. I was surprised at how dry this one is. Finishes very dry, and flavors are all quite light. Very carbonated mouthfeel. Because of the dryness to me it almost has a salty finish, kind of bland. Good, not great.

Attractive beer, reddish brown, creamy tan head. The aroma started out as wheat, cloves, orther malts, but as it warmed evinced more candy sugar, and definitely more alcohol. The flavor was typical of the style, a mix of sweet malts, molasses, ceral grains. The finish had a decent hop signature. Not bad overall.
